On this day in 2013, Motown the Musical opened at Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. 

Meet Nana Ageyman-Bediako (11 years old from Haringey, London), Raphael Higgins-Humes (11 years old from Greenwich, London), Rio Myers (10 years old from Lewisham, London) and Tumo Reetsang (12 years old from Southwark, London), who alternate the roles of Young Michael Jackson, Young Berry Gordy and Young Stevie Wonder in the hit West End show MOTOWN THE MUSICAL. HAMILTON's Brandon Victor Dixon discussed Vice President elect Mike Pence's recent controversial visit to the Broadway musical, and responded to critics who believe that the statements made by the cast following the show, may not have been the right and place to be made. 

Tony nominee Brandon Victor Dixon, who currently takes on the role of Aaron Burr in the smash Broadway hit HAMILTON, stopped by MTV's The People's Playhouse around midnight last night to perform 'We Are.'

?Motown the Musical returns to Broadway this summer, beginning performances Tuesday, July 12 at The Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41Street) for a strictly limited 18-week-only engagement through Sunday, November 13, 2016. Last night (8 March 2016) marked the opening of the West End production of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL. With music and lyrics from the legendary Motown catalogue and book by Motown founder Berry Gordy, MOTOWN THE MUSICAL is directed by Charles Randolph-Wright. Last month, due to public demand, a further 200,000 tickets were released for sale taking bookings at the Shaftesbury Theatre to 18 February 2017. The talented cast of MOTOWN THE MUSICAL treated unsuspecting passengers to an impromptu performance on a Virgin Air flight to Detroit.

The touring production of MOTOWN the Musical sent a special 'Happy Trails' to the Broadway Production of MOTOWN, closing today, Sunday Jan. 18. With direction and arrangement by Jesse Nager (Smokey Robinson) the video features Julius Thomas III (Berry Gordy), Allison Semmes (Diana Ross), Jarran Muse (Marvin Gaye), Krisha Mercano (Suzanne De Passe), and Rod Harrelson (dance captain), all of whom joined the tour from the Broadway company. As part of NBC's TODAY show's 'Wishing Well' series, a single mom will travel to New York City to see Broadway's MOTOWN THE MUSICAL.

As BoadwayWorld previously reported, Tony nominee Valisia LeKae recently announced that she would depart the cast of Broadway's MOTOWN because of an ovarian cancer diagnosis. To express their support of their castmate, the company united to perform a song written especially for her. 'I Am Here' was written by Julius Thomas III and arranged by Jason Michael Webb.
