PlayMakers Repertory Company Presents AFTER ORLANDO

PlayMakers Repertory Company will partner with Triangle theater companies Little Green Pig, Black Ops and the Kenan Theater Company (a University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill undergraduate theater troupe) to proudly present a staged reading of AFTER ORLANDO, an evening of short plays in response to the shooting at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida. The reading is presented in association with Missing Bolts Productions Inc. (Blair Baker & Zac Kline artistic directors) and NoPassport Theatre Alliance and Press (Caridad Svich, founder) and will be on November 28th, at 7:30pm in the Kenan Theater at the Center for Dramatic Arts.

Opera San José Presents Rossini's Hilarious Comedy THE BARBER OF SEVILLE

The Barber of Seville is one of the most sparkling, effervescent comedies ever created and Opera San Jose is pleased to observe the 200th anniversary of this richly entertaining comedy by making it our second production of the 2016-17 season. This joke-a-minute masterpiece spread across the world like wildfire from its 1816 premiere, and it remains among one of the most popular works for the stage today. Charged with vocal fireworks, Rossini's Barber of Seville received 989 performances in 227 productions at 154 cities across the globe in the past two years alone. It made Rossini world famous and has become the most popular comic opera of all time.

SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS Dances Onto Hale Centre Theatre Stage

The Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert is transformed into the Old West when Seven Brides for Seven Brothers dances onto the family-friendly stage Oct. 13 through Nov. 26. The laugh-filled musical comedy revolves around an 1850-era Oregon Territory town where one of seven brothers, Adam, ventures from the backwoods into town to find a wife. He meets Milly and the couple quickly marry. They hasten back to Adam's mountain ranch, where Milly is shocked to find Adam's six slovenly brothers living in the ranch house. Milly attempts to change their ways, teaching them order, manners, singing and dancing.

Hale Centre Theatre Opens 2016-2017 Season with THE DROWSY CHAPERONE

The Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert opens its 2016-2017 season of powerhouse musicals, outrageous comedies and tastefully clean shows with the Broadway smash hit The Drowsy Chaperone. A hilarious satire on 1920s musicals, The Drowsy Chaperone encompasses classic comical elements including mistaken identities, bumbling '20s gangsters disguised as pastry chefs, a puffed-up Broadway producer, a stiff-lipped butler, a ditzy dowager and a tipsy chaperone. The fun starts Aug. 26 and runs through Oct. 8.

Theatre of NOTE continues its 2016 season with the west coast premiere of D DEB DEBBIE DEBORAH by Jerry Lieblich and directed by Doug Oliphant. D DEB DEBBIE DEBORAH will open on Thursday, August 11 and run through Saturday, September 17 at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N Cahuenga Blvd (just north of Sunset) in Hollywood.

Bergen County Players to Present Holiday Musical ALADDIN, 11/30-12/22

Continuing its 'From Page to Stage' 81st season, Bergen County Players (BCP) will present its annual holiday show, Aladdin, a theatrical magic carpet ride for the entire family. Building on its commitment to providing theater that entertains, challenges and inspires young people and families, BCP will present Aladdin at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell from November 30th through December 22nd. Children of all ages will be thrilled to follow Aladdin's quest to capture the heart of the beautiful princess Mei-Ling, taking him on a magical journey from rags to riches and featuring not one, but two fantastical genies! Shows will be on Fridays at 8pm, and Saturdays and Sundays at 1pm and 3:30pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.bcplayers.org, by calling 201-261-4200, or by visiting the box office at 298 Kinderkamack Road in Oradell during regular box office hours. Tickets are $13 for all performances.

Hale Theatre Wins 16 ariZoni Awards

Arizona's version of the Tony awards took place at the Tempe Center for the Arts on Monday, September 16th. Forty theatres participated around the valley including youth, contracted, and non-contracted theatres. Hale Theatre, who falls under non-contracted, swept sixteen awards, receiving the most earned out of all theatres valley wide.

4TH WALL THEATRE closes its 16th season with the comedy Lucky Stiff, the first musical by one of Broadway's hottest writing teams, Lynn Ahrens (book and lyrics) and Stephen Flaherty (music). This musical farce is based on the book The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo by Michael Butterworth. First produced at Playwrights Horizons off-Broadway (Richard Rodgers Award) the show later went on to win Washington's Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical.

The group was tragically, and inconveniently struck down before their first big gig. 'The Plaids' will be brought back to earth to take the stage one last time.
