NYMF Announces Additional Concerts, Talkbacks & Workshops; Tickets Now On Sale

Completing the programming for the 10th annual New York Musical Theatre Festival, NYMF announced several additional concerts, a series of educational workshops, and a "Musicals on Television" screening series in partnership with the Paley Center for Media. #UntitledPopMusical, the new musical conceived and written by Michael Kimmel (The Last Goodbye), with music and lyrics by Drew Gasparini (Smash) will have it's debut concert at (Le) Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker Street, between Thompson and Sullivan), June 24th 2013 at 7pm. The concert will feature Julia Mattison (Godspell), Lauren Pritchard (Spring Awakening), Lisa Brescia (Wicked, Mama Mia), Andrew Kober (Hair) and F. Michael Haynie (Wicked, Dogfight). Tony Award-winner Alice Ripley and HAIR's Kacie Sheik and Andrew Kober will join Meghann Fahy (NBC's 'Chicago Fire'), Preston Sadleir (Next to NormalTour), Krista Pioppi (Spring Awakening Tour), and Taylor Noble (A Lasting Impression) on June 29th at 7pm at Joe's Pub for a concert of Zoe Sarnak's A Lasting Impression. Jeff Buckley Musical, THE LAST GOODBYE, to Play Old Globe This October

The Old Globe will open its 2013-14 Season with The Last Goodbye, a new musical that marries Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and the incendiary songs of the legendary singer-songwriter Jeff Buckley. Conceived and adapted by Michael Kimmel, the rock musical is directed by two-time Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Peter and the Starcatcher, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). Choreography is by Sonya Tayeh ("So You Think You Can Dance"), and orchestrations, music direction and arrangements are by Kris Kukul. The complete creative team and casting, as well as the remainder of the Globe's new season, will be announced at a later date. The Last Goodbye will run on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 20 - Nov. 3, 2013. Preview performances run Sept. 20 - Oct. 5. Opening night is Sunday, Oct. 6. Tickets are currently available by subscription only. Broadway Gives Back presents a concert entitled 'Broadway Charity Songs!' 'Broadway Charity Songs' has paired a group of award-winning musical theatre composers with a group of outstanding charities and tasked them with composing an original piece that each prospective charity could use for fundraising purposes. The result is a group of songs gifted to the charities - with the hope that the songs 'go viral' while increasing awareness for these outstanding organizations. The concert will take place tonight, March 25th, 2013, 7:30pm at Le Poisson Rouge. (more...)
