Fiddlehead Theatre Company, in collaboration with the American Civil Liberties Union, with the support of Mayor Thomas M. Menino, City of Boston, announce an exciting new production of the Tony Award-winning musical RAGTIME. The production runs September 28-October 7, 2012 at Boston's Historic Strand Theatre, and aims to celebrate the work of the ACLU, and in particular keep issues of personal liberty at the forefront of people's minds during the upcoming elections. On September 15, 2012, at a special gala in Boston, RAGTIME creator Terrence McNally will accept the ACLU's Beacon of Liberty Award on behalf of himself and fellow creators Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Casting has been announced for the NYMF production of SWING STATE which will star Morgan Weed (currently in RENT at New World Stages, Saved and Next to Normal Off-Broadway) and Jed Resnick (Avenue Q on Broadway and currently in the Off-Broadway cast at New World Stages) at the 45th St. Theatre Mainstage from July 20th-29th. Set in Ohio, SWING STATE follows the unpredictable relationship that develops between Kindergarten teacher and Born Again Christian Bonnie (Weed) and her chiropractor Neil (Resnick), a gay atheist who arrives in Ohio fresh from New York City. Baby Case is directed by Jeremy Dobrish and produced by Charlie Fink, Michael Ogborn, Robert Soslow, Juliana Schauerman, Dorothy Flynn, Caroline Castagno, Glenn Gunderson, Kathy Lou Leone, Diane Santillo, and Anne Makara. Baby Case will play from July 16 - 22, 2012, at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 W 42 St). Baby Case is presented by The New York Musical Theatre Festival. (more...)
