Imago Theatre's critically acclaimed production of THE BLACK LIZARD, directed by Jerry Mouawad, returns to open the Imago's season in October. Japanese director Kenji Misumi (1921-1975) was best known for his wildly popular Zatoichi and Lone Wolf and Cub samurai films. Versatile and underrated in the West, he was also one of the pioneers of the jidai geki (historical drama), and was nicknamed Little Mizoguchi for his stylistic mastery. In collaboration with the Japan Foundation, Museum of the Moving Image presents a seven-film retrospective of the director's works from October 5 through 14, 2012.

In order to possess the perfect diamond, The Black Lizard and her underground amphibian gang pursue the Star of Egypt, through the jeweler's perfectly beautiful daughter. Her kidnapping leads to a pursuit all over Japan and into a museum of terror.

Yuio Mishima's THE BLACK LIZARD: A THRILLING EROTIC GROTESQUE MYSTERY begins $5 special previews starting tonight - May 8, 9, 10 at 8PM. Containing nudity and only reccomended for adults, the show opens May 11 and will play untill June 2 on Thursdays at 7:30 and Friday and Saturday at 8:00.

In anticipation of the upcoming Lincoln Center Festival, Lincoln Center is planning its first Festival Day, a full day of one-day-only ticket offers, information, great food, and free talks and events in the David Rubenstein Atrium, culminating in the first public screening of the new DVD of Bruckner's Eighth Symphony, performed by The Cleveland Orchestra led by Franz Welser-Most at 7 p.m., projected onto the Atrium's 42 foot-wide media wall.

As previously announced, Lincoln Center Festival 2011, which runs from July 5-August 14, will offer 116 performances by ensembles and artists from some 20 countries, and will include 6 World, North American, U.S., and New York premieres unfolding in seven venues on and off the Lincoln Center campus.
