Der Verleger Peter Brochalke und seine Freunde teilen ein extravagantes Hobby: Allwöchentlich veranstalten sie ein Abendessen, zu dem jeder der Gäste abwechselnd einen sorgfältig ausgewählten Gast mitbringt: einen absoluten Volltrottel, der dann zum Amüsement der anderen Gäste zum „Spinner des Abends“ gekürt wird. Mit dem Finanzbeamten Frank Ritzel glaubt Brochalke, einen ganz besonderen Glücksgriff getan zu haben: Aber der Abend fällt ins Wasser, Brochalke hat sich einen Hexenschuss eingefangen. Ritzel kommt wie verabredet zu Brochalke nach Hause, um ihn zum Dinner abzuholen - und das Unglück nimmt seinen Lauf: Innerhalb kürzester Zeit zerstört Ritzel Brochalkes Ehe, bevölkert dessen Wohnung mit ungebetenen Gästen und informiert das Finanzamt über Peters unversteuerte Vermögenswerte. Brochalkes Nerven werden exzessiv strapaziert – und so stellt sich schließlich die Frage: Wer ist denn nun der wirkliche Spinner? (more...)

Kelley (Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope) and practicing neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, M.D., on whose book the series is based. Dallas Theater Center Names Joel Ferrell Associate Artistic Director

Dallas Theater Center Artistic Director Kevin Moriarty announced today that DTC Associate Artist Joel Ferrell has been promoted to Associate Artistic Director. In his new position, Ferrell will continue to direct and choreograph plays and musicals at DTC, while also expanding his role as the lead producer of DTC's mainstage productions. Ferrell will work closely with guest directors and designers to oversee productions from the initial creative process, including design and casting, through the productions' rehearsals and performances. Ferrell began working for DTC on a freelance basis in the late 1990s and joined the artistic staff on a full time basis in 2009. (more...)

Hedgerow Theatre’s ART to Run 5/10-6/17

Hedgerow TheatreÂ’s production of the Tony Award-winning comedy Art, which runs from May 10 through June 17, features three popular local actors, Leonard C. Haas, Tom Teti and Zoran Kovcic. Atlantis Productions (In the Heights, Disney's The Little Mermaid) has just released the poster for its upcoming production of Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning play God of Carnage, starring Lea Salonga (Les Miserables, Miss Saigon), Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo (Next to Normal, Love, Loss, And What I Wore), Adrian Pang (The Full Monty, They're Playing Our Song), and Art Acuña (The Romance of Magno Rubio, Kitchen Musical). To be directed by Bobby Garcia (In the Heights, Disney's The Little Mermaid), God of Carnage will premiere in Manila in July, and in Singapore in November through a partnership with Singapore Repertory Theatre. Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico Set to Lead PASSION at Classic Stage Company in 2013

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner announced today that acclaimed/awarding winning actresses Judy Kuhn and Melissa Errico will star as Fosca and Clara in the companyÂ’s new production of Stephen Sondheim and James LapineÂ’s Tony Award-winning musical PASSION, to be directed by John Doyle (the Tony Award-winning revivals of SondheimÂ’s Sweeney Todd and Company). PASSION is slated to begin performances in February, 2013. Additional casting will be announced in the coming weeks and months, as well as full creative team. PASSION opened on Broadway in May of 1994 and received the Tony Award that year for Best Musical. (more...)

Classic Stage Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Brian Kulick and Executive Director Greg Reiner, will present its sold-out Open Rehearsal Series with Monday Night ANTONY & CLEOPATRA, featuring a company of seasoned actors and directors as they explore the text over three consecutive Monday nights beginning April 16 with Stephanie Roth Haberle and Sam Tsoutsouvas, directed by Brian Kulick; followed by Laila Robbins as Cleopatra on April 23, directed by Craig Baldwin; and finally on April 30, Kim Cattrall as Cleopatra and Anthony Heald as Antony, directed by Brian Kulick. Lakewood Theatre Company will celebrate its 60th anniversary season with six productions on its Mainstage and three productions on its Side Door stage beginning July 13, 2012. Season tickets for the 2012-2013 season are on sale now and prices for the six-show season range from $170.00 - $160.00. Performances are Thursday -Saturday at 7:30 PM, Sundays at 7:00 PM and some Sunday matinees at 2:00 PM. Season tickets can be purchased at the LTC Box Office at 368 S. State Street in Lake Oswego. Box Office hours are 9-5 weekdays and 10-4 on Saturdays. Call 503-635-3901 to charge your order by phone. Just as the 2012 presidential race heats up,International City Theatre (ICT) presents the West Coast premiere of a hard-boiled, darkly comic, Olivier Award-nominated rock musical about the American political machine. With book and lyrics by John Dempsey and music by Dana P. Rowe, The Fix begins a four-week run on April 27 at International City Theatre in the Long Beach Performing Arts Center. Randy Brenner is at the helm, with musical direction by Darryl Archibald, choreography by Heather Castillo, and Sal Mistretta reprising his Helen Hayes Award-winning role as Uncle Grahame.
