Bay Street Theatre has announced the first production of the 2012 Mainstage Season. Polly Draper stars in MY BRILLIANT DIVORCE, by Geraldine Aron. This American Premiere begins Tuesday, May 29 and runs through Sunday, June 24. The production is directed by Matt McGrath, one of Bay StreetÂ’s Artistic Associates. GIT ALONG LIL DOGGIES is described as "a meditative, cowboy dance-drama about the spiritual imprint of the windswept landscape of the American west. In an impressionistic narrative drawn from a variety of sources, two outlaws on the trail of an old adversary take work as jewel thieves for a washed up brothel madam. In a chance encounter with a traveling magician, they locate their enemy and conjure the violent forces of nature through sex-magic to take revenge."

BEAT GENERATION by Jack Kerouac Set for Staged Reading 10/10-14 in Lowell, MA

Steve Buscemi Set to Direct Film Adaptation of QUEER

BOARDWALK EMPIRE's Steve Buscemi is set to direct a film adaptation of the 1985 short novel QUEER, according to Digitalspy. The novel was written by William S. Burroughs and took over 30 years to be published. Starring in the film will be actors Guy Pearce, Ben Foster and Kelly MacDonald. ( more...)

Today, R.E.M. posted two videos for their brand-new song "We All Go Back To Where We Belong" on their official website www.remhq.com. R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe and co-director Dominic DeJoseph (who has directed previous films for R.E.M.) recruited actress Kirsten Dunst to star in one of the videos for "We All Go Back To Where We Belong." Dunst is a Golden Globe-nominated performer who has starred in such movies as Sophia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Marie Antoinette, and the Spider-Man trilogy. She recently received the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress for her role in the current film Melancholia, directed by Lars von Trier. ( more...)

Matt McGrath Replaces James Barbour in ROCKY HORROR SHOW at Old Globe this Fall

Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced that Matt McGrath will appear in the role of Frank ‘N' Furter in The Old Globe's upcoming production of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. McGrath appeared on Broadway as the Emcee in Sam Mendes' hit revival of Cabaret and in the international tour of Tom Waits and William S. Burroughs' The Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets directed by Robert Wilson. He has also appeared Off Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Itch and A Fair Country at Lincoln Center Theater. McGrath replaces the previously announced James Barbour, who has departed the production. ( more...)
