UPDATE: New York Theatre Companies with Broadway Houses Still Ineligible for Regional Theatre Tony Award by BWW News Desk - Jun 13, 2013
Earlier today, the Tony Awards Administration Committee announced that starting with the 2013-2014 season, New York-based theatre companies can now be eligible to receive the Regional Theatre Award. BroadwayWorld has since confirmed that New York City theatre companies that are associated with a Broadway house will continue to be ineligible for the award- including such groups as Roundabout Theatre Company and Manhattan Theatre Club. Producers Letty Aronson and Julian Schlossberg have just announced that the world premiere production of BULLETS OVER BROADWAY, the new Broadway musical adaptation of Woody Allen's and Douglas McGrath's screenplay of the 1994 film, will open at The St. James Theatre (246 West 44th Street, between 7th & 8th Avenue) on an April 2014 date to be announced shortly. The divas took all the top prizes at the 2013 Tony Awards, from Cyndi Lauper and Billy Porter (as Lola) of KINKY BOOTS through to Best Directors Diane Paulus and Pam McKinnon to Cicely Tyson, Patina Miller, Judith Light and Andrea Martin in the acting categories to Caroline O'Connor of A CHRISTMAS STORY to MATILDA, CINDERELLA, and beyond in smashing performances. Polished, practiced, poised and primed to deliver, the show was a splendid showcase for Broadway today, fabulously decked out to the nines (and over-elevens). (more...)

STAGE TUBE: Watch CINDERELLA Cast Parody 'Baby Got Back'! by Stage Tube - Jun 07, 2013
CINDERELLA -- the Rodgers + Hammerstein musical now at the Broadway Theatre (1681 Broadway) -- played its 100th performance on Wednesday evening, May 29. The cast celebrated with a cake from Carlo's Bakery, home of TV's 'Cake Boss.' The musical began previews on January 25 and had its official opening night on March 3. Written for CBS-TV in 1957, this production of Rodgers + Hammerstein's CINDERELLA marks the musical's first-eve Broadway production, now in its 5th month of performances.
