The Glimmerglass Festival, the Central New York summer opera company, will celebrate its Young Artists and Summer Internship programs at GL!MMERATA, its 2013 Spring Gala, tonight, April 10 at The Metropolitan Club in Manhattan. The Metropolitan Opera's 2013-14 season will feature many of the world's greatest singers, conductors, and theater artists in 26 operas, including six new productions, of a varied repertory that ranges from the Baroque era to the 21st century. Met Music Director James Levine will return to the Met podium for the first time in two years, conducting three operas with which he has long been associated: a new production of Verdi's final masterpiece Falstaff, Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, and Berg's Wozzeck. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi will be conducting two operas in the 2013-14 season, Rossini's La Cenerentola and Puccini's Madama Butterfly. (more...)

Dwayne Croft and Ildar Abdrazakov Play 'Escamillo' in The Met's CARMEN, Feb-March 2013 by BWW News Desk - Feb 20, 2013
Casting is announced for the role of Escamillo for this season's remaining performances of Carmen. DWayne Croft will sing the role tonight, February 20 and February 26, and March 1, and Ildar Abdrazakov will sing the role on February 23 matinee, a performance that will be broadcast around the world over the Toll Brothers-Metropolitan Opera Radio Network. Metropolitan Opera Announces Cast Change Advisory for February 9, 13, and 16 by BWW News Desk - Feb 08, 2013
DWayne Croft will sing the role of Escamillo in Bizet's Carmen on February 9, 13, and 16, replacing Teddy Tahu Rhodes, who determined in rehearsals that the role was no longer suitable for his voice. Tenor Marcello Giordani has decided to withdraw from the remaining four performances of Berlioz's Les Troyens, permanently retiring the role of Aeneas from his repertory. In his place, American tenor Bryan Hymel will make his Met debut, singing the role tonight, December 26, December 29 matinee, January 1, and January 5 matinee (the date of the global HD transmission).
