A CHRISTMAS STORY to Open on Broadway This Holiday Season!

According to an Equity casting notice, A Christmas Story, The Musical!, which toured the US last year, will land on Broadway this holiday season, playing November 6- Decmber 30. The production, which begins rehearsals in October, will be directed by John Rando, music direction by Ian Eisendrath and choreography by Warren Carlyle. A Christmas Story features a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and a book by Joseph Robinette. ( more...)

CHAPLIN, a new musical depicting the life of film icon Charlie Chaplin, with music and lyrics by Christopher Curtis and book by three-time Tony Award-winner Thomas Meehan (Annie, The Producers, Hairspray) and Christopher Curtis, will open on Broadway on Monday, September 10, 2012 at the Barrymore Theatre (243 West 47th Street). Previews will begin Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Acclaimed director/choreographer Warren Carlyle (Finians Rainbow, Hugh Jackman, Back on Broadway) directs and choreographs the production. Follies stars four-time Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell as Phyllis Rogers Stone, Tony Award winner Victoria Clark, two-time Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein as Buddy Plummer, three-time Emmy Award nominee Ron Raines as Benjamin Stone and Olivier Award winner Elaine Paige as Carlotta Campion. FOLLIES Fails to Recoup on Broadway

Follies just took its final Broadway ow last night, January 22, and according to the New York Times, despite its extended run, the show failed to recoup its initial investment. Michael Kaiser of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts told the HUffington Post that 'while the production did not recoup its full investment on Broadway, it did far better financially than I had planned.'
