Patrons were treated to a classic trip down memory lane this week as four leading ladies of the legendary Persian Room New York came together for a book signing. Lainie Zazan, Michele Lee, Connie Stevens and Barbara Van Orden gathered at Barnes and Noble in California's The Grove to celebrate the release of Patty Farmer's new book “The Persian Room Presents.” Anecdotes involving audience celebrity sightings included Barbara Streisand (by Stevens), Milton Berle (by Van Orden), Jack Jones and his thighs (by Lee) and a mob king who struck her while performing (by Kazan). 2012 CAPA Summer Movie Series Lineup Announced

The CAPA Summer Movie Series, the longest-running classic film series in America, celebrates its 42nd anniversary in 2012 with classics, cult favorites, and much beloved films. The 2012 series, made possible through the generous support of PNC, will run June 15–August 12 at the historic Ohio Theatre (39 E. State St.), featuring 27 films over nine weeks. ( more...)

The Film Society of Lincoln Center to Present Ridley Scott Retrospective, 5/25-6/3

The Film Society of Lincoln Center announced today a complete retrospective of three-time Oscar-nominee Ridley Scott, whose career began in the 70Â’s and who has continued to excite and enchant audiences with his remarkable storytelling ability. The retrospective will run from May 25 - June 3 and will include the DirectorÂ’s cut of KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, a new 35mm print of THELMA & LOUISE and the chance for fans to catch all of their favorites on the big screen. Tribeca Film Institute Announces 2012 Award Winners For TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund

The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the award winners for the TFI Latin America Media Arts Fund and first-ever Heineken VOCES grant at a celebration over the weekend for Latin American filmmakers during the Tribeca Film Festival. The funds, totaling $60,000, support innovative Latin American film and video artists to help them explore stories reflecting diverse cultures and gain exposure in the film industry. ( more...)

Lea Salong & David Burnham Celebrate Broadway & Disney With THE PALM BEACH POPS

The sixth and final concert series in The Palm Beach Pops’ 20th Anniversary Season, The Magic of Broadway and Disney Favorites will feature Broadway stars Lea Salonga, Tony and Drama Desk Winner, best known as the singing voice in Disney movies and for her leading roles in Miss Saigon and Les Misérables, and 2007 Helen Hayes Award winner David Burnham of Wicked. Six concerts are scheduled beginning March 29, 30 & 31 at The Carole and Barry Kaye Performing Arts Auditorium at FAU, Boca Raton, April 1 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens and April 2 & 3 at the Kravis Center, West Palm Beach.
