LA Chamber Orchestra Honors Supporters in 'Taking a Chance On Love' Gala, 2/2

Love will be in the air when the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO) honors the generosity and dedication of long-time supporters Jennifer and Royce Diener (Santa Monica residents) and David K. and Kay Duke Ingalls (Santa Fe, New Mexico residents) at its annual gala, "Taking a Chance On Love," on February 2, 2013, 6 pm, at The California Club in downtown Los Angeles. David K. Ingalls served as President of LACO's Board of Directors from 1980 to 1983 and as Chair from 1983 to 1988; and Jennifer Diener served as President from 1991 to 1995 and Chair from 1995 to 1998. Both were instrumental in establishing the Orchestra as a premier cultural institution of Los Angeles and currently serve on LACO's newly established Emeritus Board of Directors. The evening's theme is a nod to the era of George Gershwin and Ballets Russes composer Vladimir Dukelsky - better known as Vernon Duke - whose enchanting tunes are at the heart of the Great American Songbook. Duke is Ingalls' late husband. Proceeds benefit LACO's concert series, radio broadcasts and community engagement programs. (more...)

92nd Street Y announces casting for the 2013 season of Lyrics & Lyricists™. Jason Danieley, Rebecca Luker, Barbara Carroll and James Naughton are among the performers from the worlds of Broadway, jazz and cabaret presenting a panoramic journey through the American Songbook via New York, London, Hollywood, and Stratford-on-Avon. L&L's shows this season explore Shakespeare on Broadway, iconic singer/lyricist Peggy Lee, a fresh take on Jerome Kern, and our look at Vernon Duke's and W. S. Gilbert's influence on Broadway. The season is curated by series artistic director Deborah Grace Winer (also returning as artistic director for one of the shows), and a line-up of guest artistic directors - Rob Fisher (with host Sheldon Harnick), Billy Stritch, David Loud and Mark Lamos. 92Y Announces Lyrics & Lyricists 2013 Season

92nd Street Y today announced the 2013 line-up for Lyrics & Lyricists™, 92Y's celebrated American Songbook series. Deborah Grace Winer returns for her fifth season as artistic director of the series, as well as one of the shows. Guest artistic directors leading the individual concerts are Rob Fisher (with host Sheldon Harnick), David Loud, Billy Stritch and Mark Lamos in his L&L debut. (more...)
