Baldwin Wallace University's NEXT TO NORMAL to Play Beck Center, 3/1-4/21 by BWW

After last season's highly acclaimed Spring Awakening, Beck Center for the Arts partners once again with Baldwin Wallace University Music Theatre program to present three-time Tony Award winner and Pulitzer Prize-winning rock musical, Next to Normal, March 1 through April 21, 2013 in the intimate Studio Theater. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Todays. There are no performances todays, March 31 or April 14. (more...)

National Alliance for Musical Theatre Announces $37,000 in Grants by BWW News Desk - Apr 15, 2013
The National Alliance for Musical Theatre (NAMT) announces 11 awards granted from their National Fund for New Musicals, a major funding program to support NAMT member not-for-profit theatres in their collaborations with writers to create, develop and produce new musicals. Now in its fifth year, the Fund will provide grants totaling $37,000 to 11 organizations across the country. (more...)

In collaboration with Baldwin Wallace University Music Theatre Program, Beck Center for the Arts presents NEXT TO NORMAL, with music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey, and directed by Victoria Bussert, with musical direction by Nancy Maier and choreography by David Zody. There is a recent trend for Cleveland area professional theatres to couple with local university drama programs. Cleveland Play House has married itself to both Cleveland State University and Case Western Reserve's MFA programs. Cleveland Public Theatre and Oberlin College have such an agreement. The connection between Beck Center and Baldwin Wallace's nationally ranked musical theatre program, has resulted in not only allowing BW students to appear on a professional stage, and the expansion of the acting pool for Beck, but the production several top notch shows. Cleveland's Classic Company Announces 2013-14 Season by BWW News Desk - Feb 05, 2013
Charles Fee, Producing Artistic Director of Great Lakes Theater (GLT), unveiled an ambitious, five-production array of classics to headline the company's 2013-14 season. Shannon O'Boyle is a proud member of Actors Equity. Shannon graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Theatre from Baldwin Wallace University's Conservatory of Music in May under the direction of Victoria Bussert. Shannon has worked at Playhouse Square, Great Lakes Theatre, Idaho Shakespeare Festival and more. Favorite credits include the title role of Lizzie in the midwest premiere of the rock musical about axe-wielding murderess Lizzie Borden, Cabaret,and the world premiere in repertory of Rent and La Boheme.
