Cabaret Cares is the monthly benefit series that brings together the best of The Broadway and Cabaret community of New York. Created by cabaret producer Joseph Macchia who is also the founder and the president of Help Is On The Way Today a grass roots non for profit organization that helps and assists children and teens living with HIV and AIDS in New York City. The BFA Film, Video and Animation Department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA), home of the 23rd Annual Dusty Film & Animation Festival, announced today that 5-time Billboard Award winner and celebrity interviewer Valerie Smaldone will be the Master of Ceremonies for the Dusty Film & Animation Festival Awards Ceremony on May 9, according to Reeves Lehmann, chair of the BFA Film, Video and Animation Department, and independent producer, Annie Flocco, SVA faculty member and the producer of the event. LOMBARDI, now the longest running new play on Broadway, celebrated its 200th performance last Friday, and was honored on Tuesday night with a party at Tony's Di Napoli restaurant at which a stunning oil portrait of stars Dan Lauria and Judith Light was revealed; it will be the newest addition to Tony's prestigious Broadway Wall of Fame. Autographed poster copies will be auctioned off at a future event to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The party was hosted by Bruce Dimpflmaier and Tony's di Napoli Restaurant. Valerie Smaldone produced and emceed the evening. The portrait is by Dan May. (more...)
