Talawa Theatre Company’s flagship programme for emerging theatremakers, TYPT, is back this summer.  A team of emerging Black artists aged 18-25 will work with established artists to create a brand-new show in four weeks, with invaluable access for young artists at the start of their careers to professional support including director Tristan Fynn-Aiduenu.  This summer, the participants will create work themed around success.

Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, conducted by Christian Thielemann, will be performed on 21 January 2024. This marks the role debut for Klaus Florian Vogt as Tristan and cast members include Camilla Nylund, Christa Mayer, Georg Zeppenfeld and Martin Gantner.

Seattle Opera will continue its 2022/23 season with Richard Wagner’s sensual epic, Tristan and Isolde. Building on the proud tradition of Wagner productions in Seattle, Tristan and Isolde brings Wagner to the McCaw Hall stage for the first time since 2016.

Both compositions by Krzysztof Pastor, each in their own way, play on our moods and emotions with a pure choreographic form, the art of neoclassical dance, the colors of space and the play of lights, to the music of the great masters: Schnittke, Górecki and Wagner.

Peter Sellars will direct the Los Angeles Philharmonic performances of Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde conducted by Gustavo Dudamel, Music and Artistic Director of the LA Phil. The performances will include Bill Viola’s video.

From 10 to 2 June, Saburo Teshigawara, Japan's greatest contemporary choreographer, comes to The Coronet Theatre to give the UK premiere of his danced distillation of Tristan and Isolde.  The performances are the climax of Electric Japan, the west London venue's season of dance, theatre and visual arts drawn from Japan's thriving experimental arts scene.

Choreographer, director and performer Saburo Teshigawara uses the body as an artistic laboratory to create new forms of beauty. His work fuses a sculptural sensibility, a skilled sense of composition, a mastery of space and the potent economy of his movement. He was awarded The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2022 Venice Biennale.
