BWW Blog: Tory Ross of KINKY BOOTS -The Making of a Price and Son Shoe: Part Four
by Guest Blogger: Tory Ross - Mar 11, 2013

Well Kinkettes (a potential name for the fans of the Broadway musical Kinky Boots... thoughts?), all good things must come to a (pro tempore) end. And thus, I give you the final installation of the making of a Price and Son shoe. Before we get to that how'er, I wanted to tell you that with months of hard work and anticipation behind us, we finally got to do our musical for a paying audience and THE RESPONSE WAS INCREDIBLE. Honestly, I've never experienced the wall of sound that erupted in our direction after our first preview. It was equal parts mind-blowing and life-altering. People are really digging our story and the house looks packed, so please buy your tickets now and join our dance party. No spoiler alert... dance party is a metaphor here. Or is it? You won't know until you see the show.

Okay, how many of you were waiting with baited breath to see what happens to a shoe after the leather is moulded into its' shoe shape? 100s of you? 1000s?! For me, A shoe really becomes a shoe at the machine of Eric Anderson, who plays Mutt Johnston. He's the one who puts the sole on the bottom of it. Eric/Mutt takes his job very seriously. He's at that machine all day and all night pretending to put soles on shoes. If anyone could actually apply for a job at a shoe factory after doing this musical, Eric would nail it. He would literally nail it.

Hello BroadwayWorld Blog readers! Today I shall continue with my four-part series: The Making of a Price and Son Shoe. Before I continue however, I wanted to inform you that after reading the first instalment of this missive, the ladies interviewed, having seen in print exactly how they felt about each other had some choice words for each other. It was wonderful to watch, especially since British curse words are so fabulous. Try to bollocks five times fast!

BWW Blog: Tory Ross of KINKY BOOTS - The Making of a Price and Son Shoe: Part One
by Guest Blogger: Tory Ross - Feb 24, 2013

Well friends, the day finally arrived! We moved into the Hirschfeld on Thursday and were reunited with all the fabulous things that make up our little Price and Son factory. The whole reunion got me thinking about how we spend our evenings at the show. Essentially, it's shoes. We make shoes. I won't give away any plot points, but shoes is the name of our game and while out-of-town in Chicago, we created a very interesting faux-community in our Northampton Town shoe factory. With that in mind, I decided to map the life of a Price and Son shoe and introduce you to all the people who create it, from leather bits to boxed and shipped.

BWW Blog: Tory Ross of KINKY BOOTS - Halloween Party Fun
by Guest Blogger: Tory Ross - Feb 21, 2013

Happy Thursday faithful blog readers! Hope you had a lovely Presidents' Day. Over at Kinky Boots... we've been refining the details, massaging our arches and belting crazy high notes (well, Ellyn Marie Marsh has because of Stephen Oremus' GENIUS arrangements) in anticipation of MOVING INTO THE HIRSCHFELD TOMORROW. I was having mild amounts of anxiety about what to write about yesterday because I don't want to give too much away before we get back into our Kinky Northampton factory and then my gaze was distracted by a silly dance in the corner of the room. Yeup... Annaleigh Ashford.

BWW Blog: Tory Ross of KINKY BOOTS - Happy Valentine's Day!
by Guest Blogger: Tory Ross - Feb 15, 2013

Happy day-after-Valentine's day, y'all!! There's a lot of love in the Kinky Boots rehearsal room at New 42nd Street Studios these days... so one of our fabulous, so-on-top-of-it-nothing-gets-by-him Stage Managers Thomas Recktenwald (thomas84nyc on Instagram) did a photo-shoot. We love photo shoots, Twitter and Instagram almost as much as we love shoes at Kinky Boots. Here are some of my favourites (and yes, I decided to use the British spelling of the word 'favourites' because our show takes place in the North of England and I am the proud owner of a British passport. Kate Middleton and I might as well be besties.)

Hi fabulous Broadway World Blog readers! Welcome to your behind-the-scenes snippets of Kinky Boots the musical as notated by me... Tory Ross! You may (not) remember me from such (non) pivotal roles as: Daphne the downer in 9 to 5 the Musical or a late-edition Hatchet Face in Cry-Baby or maybe you saw me sing tipsily at a gay bar benefit or maybe you've never heard of me but want to know everything about Kinky Boots cause it's AWESOME. No matter... welcome to my musings!
