The playwright Marc Camoletti may not be a household name here in the US, but his work has been seen all over the world, touching some 55 countries and a multitude of languages. Camoletti, who passed away in 2003 at the age of 79, was arguably the modern day master of the French farce, but itÂ’s taken a while for Americans to jump on board and appreciate his work the way the rest of the world has for so long. Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that critically acclaimed Broadway actress Rachel York will star as “Reno Sweeney” in the national tour of the 2011 Tony® Award winning Anything Goes. Presented by Roundabout Theatre Company, the national tour will set sail in Cleveland this fall. Anything Goes is the winner of three Tony® Awards including Best Musical Revival.

Theatre Bay Area Releases Study on Impact of Live Theatre, 3/12

Theatre Bay Area and the research firm WolfBrown announce the completion of the book Counting New Beans: Intrinsic Impact and the Value of Art. The book contains the final report of “Measuring the Intrinsic Impact of Live Theatre,” and interviews with more than 20 prominent artistic directors in the United States, and essays by industry thought-leaders Diane Ragsdale, Arlene Goldbard, Rebecca Novick, and more. A book tour will launch March 12 in Chicago, and will visit eight cities in the United States including Minneapolis, Boston, New York, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Counting New Beans: Intrinsic Impact and the Value of Art is now available for purchase at www.theatrebayarea.org/intrinsicimpact. Also available on the site are the executive summary of the work and interview excerpts, available free of charge. ( more...)

Chita Rivera Leads THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD for Roundabout in 2012-2013; PICNIC & New Premiere Announced!

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced three productions as part of the 2012-2013 theatrical season. In the fall of 2012, Roundabout will present The Mystery of Edwin Drood, starring Chita Rivera, featuring book, music and lyrics by Rupert Holmes, musical direction by Paul Gemignani and direction by Scott Ellis. Winter 2013 will bring Picnic by William Inge, directed by Sam Gold. The third production announced is The Unavoidable Disappearance of Tom Durnin by Steven Levenson, directed by Scott Ellis.
