Starz Entertainment and Michael Bay Begin Production on BLACK SAILS by TV News Desk - Jan 06, 2013
Starz Entertainment announced today that production has begun in Cape Town, South Africa on the new original series 'Black Sails' from executive producer Michael Bay and Platinum Dunes with Neil Marshall (The Descent, 'Game of Thrones') set to direct the first episode. The new STARZ Original series is set to air in 2014. The straight-to-series, eight-episode first season of the gritty pirate adventure centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men, and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson's classic 'Treasure Island.' Uncle Vanya was part of Chichester's very first season in 1962 and became a key part of its history and is revisited during Festival 2012. The Way of the World in 1984 has also become an emblematic production; the play will feature again this year.

The National Theatre has announced casting for its upcoming productions, starting with Moira Buffini's WELCOME TO THEBES which will run starting June 15. Nikki Amuka-Bird and David Harewood will star in the World Premiere of the play, which tells the Greek myth of the first democratically elected president of Thebes in a modernized way.
