Tickets Go on Sale 5/22 for Lincoln Center's MIDSUMMER NIGHT SWING

Tickets go on sale for Lincoln Center's Midsummer Night Swing starting Wednesday, May 22. Individual tickets are $17, which includes a dance lesson with a professional instructor followed by two sets of dancing under the stars to a live orchestra. This summer marks the 25th Anniversary season of Midsummer Night Swing, and to celebrate, tickets will be sold at a special '2 for $25' price on May 22 only. There are also Midsummer Night Passes priced at $84 for six admissions, and $170 for the full season. Four-admission passes are available for $60. (more...)

The Centenary Stage Company will host a tribute to one of the most exciting musical artists of our time, Ray Charles, with 'Forever Ray', a stellar 13-piece lineup of powerhouse musicians. Members of the band have toured or recorded with Ray Charles, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Levon Helm, Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Kelly Clarkson, Patti LaBelle and Frank Sinatra to name a few. Alexander Abreu and Havana D'Primera to Appear at Three Stages, 5/25-26

One of the most widely celebrated trumpet players, Alexander Abreu, and his Grammy-nominated band, Havana D'Primera, will make only their second tour of the US, stopping in at Three Stages as they wing across the country. SOLO IN THE CITY: JEWISH WOMEN, JEWISH STARS is a solo performance series which will be presented throughout March at Baruch Performing Arts Center. The series will feature seven leading and emerging NYC-based soloists including Sandra Bernhard, Tovah Feldshuh, Judy Gold, and Jackie Hoffman performing one-woman shows and a special opening lecture/film event. The Baruch Performing Arts Center is located on the campus of Baruch College in Manhattan on East 25th Street between Lexington & 3rd Aves. (more...)

One World Theatre, Austin's premiere music venue known presenting diverse music and cultural arts in an up close and personal setting has announced its 2013 Summer Season. Highlights include top singer-songwriters like Dar Williams and Jimmy Webb, contemporary jazz greats like Euge Groove and Earl Klugh, Latin music icons like Sergio Mendes and Arturo Sandoval and local favorites like Walking Woody's Road featuring Jimmy LaFave, Eliza Gilkyson, Slaid Cleaves and Sam Baker. 2013 Latino Arts Festval Kicks Off at the Ware Center

Last year, over a thousand members of the Latino community and Latino arts aficionados jammed the Ware Center for the first Latino Film Festival. This year, the Festival has been expanded to Latino Arts Festival, which includes all the arts: music, dance and art, as well as film. The Festival is open to and encourages everyone in the community to take part in the three day celebration honoring Latino arts and artists. (more...)

2013 Latino Arts Festval to Run 3/7-9 at the Ware Center

Last year, over a thousand members of the Latino community and Latino arts aficionados jammed the Ware Center for the first Latino Film Festival. This year, the Festival has been expanded to Latino Arts Festival, which includes all the arts: music, dance and art, as well as film. The Festival is open to and encourages everyone in the community to take part in the three day celebration honoring Latino arts and artists.
Thursday, March 7th at 6 PM, the Ware Center kicks off the opening of the Latino Arts Festival with a gala reception in Lyet Lobby of the Ware Center overlooking Prince Street. The evening, which runs until 9 PM will include Latino music featuring a regional Latino band and vocals by Latino sensation Naiby Perez, remarks by dignitaries and art by local Hispanic teens, which is a part of the Lancaster County Young Artists Exhibit. Haitian singer Emeline Michel celebrates the release of her latest CD, Quintessence, which has been five years in the making, with a glorious display of Creole soul March 8 and 9 at Harlem Stage. Two Haitian writers of note featured on the new recording will perform alongside Michel: novelist Edwidge Danticat and legendary storyteller Jean-Claude Martineau will read their poetry and recite stories about the power of their nation's spirit, backed by a 12-piece band. Classically-trained Haitian tenor James Germain also shares the spotlight, displaying fresh and unexpected aspects of Haiti's diverse culture. (more...)
