Pan Asian Repertory Theatre to Present SAYONARA at Theater Row's Clurman Theater

PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE continues its 38th Season with a re-imagining of the epic musical, James A. Michener's SAYONARA. This classic story of romance and the power of love to overcome the conflict between two clashing cultures, the US Military and a world-famous all female Takarazuka dance theatre, has a book by William Luce, lyrics by Hy Gilbert, music by George Fischoff, and is adapted from the novel by James A. Michener. Directed by Tisa Chang, with choreography by Rumi Oyama, and musical direction by Sarah Brett England; the production will begin previews on July 5, 2015 and run until July 26, 2015 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street between 9th and Dyer). The official opening is on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30PM.

In its December edition, CUNY TV's ASIAN AMERICAN LIFE looks at the challenges of aging within the Asian American community, opportunities for actors of Asian American descent on Broadway, an ambitious sculpture exhibition that's a feminist twist on an historic Chinese phenomenon, and the team behind an Origami holiday tree at the American Museum of Natural History. Ernabel Demillo hosts with reports from Kyung Yoon and Paul Lin. The new episode premieres today, December 5 (2014) (*see below) and after December 5 is available for viewing 24/7 on www.cuny.tv.

Pan Asian Repertory Theatre, now in its 38th Season, has announced the cast for the East Coast premiere of FILM CHINOIS, an atmospheric noir mystery set in 1940s China written by Singaporean playwright Damon Chua and directed by Kaipo Schwab. The production will begin previews on January 17, 2015 and run until February 8, 2015 at the Beckett Theatre at Theatre Row (410 W 42nd Street between 9th and Dyer). The official opening is on Thursday, January 22 at 7:30PM.

The William & Eva Fox Foundation and Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, have announced the ninth round of Fox Foundation Resident Actor Fellowships recipients. The program is designed to support actors' professional and artistic development, to enrich relationships between actors and nonprofit theatres and to ensure continued professional commitment to live theatre. Funded by the Fox Foundation and administered by TCG, the fellowship is one of only a few programs of its kind for actors in the country.

PAN ASIAN REPERTORY THEATRE will expand training opportunities in its 37th Milestone Season, and announces that its fall line-up will include an exciting new opportunity to explore Hula Basics for 8 Thursdays from Oct 3 - Dec 6, 2013 with instructor by Marina Celander. Enhanced programming complements Pan Asian's popular Acting/Writing Lab led by Obie Award- winning artist, Ernest Abuba, which will be offered for 10 Wednesdays from Oct 9 - Dec 12, 2013. All classes are held at 520 Spaces (520 8th Ave in the Fashion District).
