In celebration of Westport Country Playhouse 80th season, an audience of over 500 attended the historic theater's annual fundraising gala, "The Magical Music of Stephen Schwartz," honoring the musical theater composer, on Monday evening, September 13. A sold-out audience of over 550 people attended the annual benefit, 'Footlights and Film: A Celebration of the Great Musicals from Stage and Screen,' hosted by Julia Roberts and featuring a special tribute to Angela Lansbury presented by Bernadette Peters, at Westport Country Playhouse, Westport, CT (Joanne Woodward and Anne Keefe, artistic directors, Jodi Schoenbrun Carter, managing director) on Monday evening, September 15. The new Broadway production of Disney's The Little Mermaid will resume performances tonight, Thursday, November 29. Prior to the canceled performances due to the recent labor dispute, the show played five sold out previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). The previously scheduled opening night of December 6 has been cancelled and The Little Mermaid will now have its official press opening on Thursday, January 10 at 8PM. (more...)

Today (Monday, January 23), The National Tour of the Tony Award-winning Best Musical of 2005, Monty Pythons SPAMALOT, begins rehearsals in New York, prior to a first performance in Boston on March 7 at the Colonial Theatre.
