Polaris Productions, a non-profit children's theatre group will present the classic 1960 Tony Award winning musical Bye Bye Birdie starting tonight, May 10th at Hudson Guild Theatre. Opera Soprano, Lauren Flanigan, to Sing 54 Song Marathon at Settepani, 5/18

On Friday, May 18, legendary American opera soprano Lauren Flanigan, known for creating memorable contemporary opera roles, stars in 'Lauren Flanigan's 4th Annual 50th Birthday Bash,' presented by American Opera Projects and Music and Mentoring House. The evening is a marathon concert of fifty-four (54) rarely-heard songs performed by Flanigan and friends. Harlem's historic Italian bistro Ristorante Settepani, 196 Lenox Ave. at 120th St., will serve a special menu of Lauren's favorite appetizers and entrees. Tickets are $54 ($39 tax-deductible) and must be purchased in advance at http://flaniganis50again.eventbrite.com or at www.operaprojects.org. Proceeds go towards American Opera Projects' Composers & the Voice program that commissions, develops, and presents contemporary opera.

American Opera Projects (AOP) and Opera New Jersey reunite sopranos Lauren Flanigan and Catherine Malfitano in The Family Room, a new one-act opera written especially for them by composer Thomas Pasatieri (The Seagull ) with an original libretto by Daphne Malfitano. The dark drama tells the story of two nameless women living in a windowless studio who speak of dinner parties and relatives, of husbands and love and a child named Georgie, but their only company is ominous sounds from above.

After the Metropolitan Opera and New York City Opera, Dicapo Opera Theatre is the only opera company in New York to present an entire season of opera productions, musical theatre, concerts, family fare, and other events, and it does so in a gem of a facility tucked away on the Upper East Side at 184 East 76th Street. The Dicapo Opera Theatre is headed by General Director, Michael Capasso and Artistic Director, Diane Martindale.
