Experience the revival of Gallery X with The THUMP & SOUL SESSION on November 25th. DJ The ZYG 808 will spin a mix of House music, Afrobeats, Rare Groove, Dancehall, and EDM. Monthly event starting January 2024.

Among the offerings at the November 4th presentation of the Poly-Groove Records Revue, at Cotuit Center for the Arts will be WAMPTRONICA, an electronic dance music group, comprised of Wampanoag and other native musical creatives; blending traditional elements of music of the First Nation people with House, jazz, breakbeats, and funk.

When Mwalim first performed 'A Party at the Crossroads' as a performance piece in 1996 at the Falmouth Public Library for Black History Month, with a subsequent production in Boston through New African Company, little did he know that the show would become a touring piece that took him around the country to theaters, venues and festivals.

The show will be running at Cotuit Center for the Arts in the Vivian and Morton Sigel Black Box theater from April 7 - 23.

Polyphonic Studios has announced the launch of Polyphonic Studios Records (PSR), an imprint and home-base for 'Thump & Soul', a genre-bending sound cultivated by the songwriters, producers, and artists affiliated with the studio; and being presented to receptive audiences throughout the Southern New England region.

Thump & Soul is offering The MIXER offering the best of Afrobeats, House, Nu-Jazz, and Rare Groove spun by The Maestro ZYG 808 on 1st, 2nd, and 4th Thursdays and THIRD THURSDAYS SUPPER CLUB, offering an all-you-can-eat buffet and live soul and jazz by The GroovaLottos.

Hosted and DJed by The ZYG 808, The THUMP & SOUL Clap features mixes of the best, indie soul, hip-hop, Afrobeat, house, rare groove, and edm artists and bands in the region as well as a few popular favorites and classic thrown in.

Multi-disciplinary artist, MWALIM DaPhunkee Professor, shifts from his role as playwright and spokenword artist, back into musician/composer/singer/producer with the release of 'PARADISE over PEACE' a jazzy-soul-pop kinda groove featuring afro-cuban jazz drumming by The ZYG 808.

REAL EMCEES is the latest single from The ZYG 808's forthcoming mixtape, 'BEAT LOUNGE NOTES', joining 'Glory of History' and 'PIONEERS' as the hip-hop branch of the Southcoast Thump & Soul movement gains momentum.

The video and Single 'GLORY of HISTORY' by The ZYG 808, featuring verses by JJNice and Chris Koch goes live on Bandcamp, Youtube and all streaming platforms on January 21, 2021.

It is a typical day at Polyphonic Studios. Chuck V is in the beat lounge working on a mix for a client, while ZYG 808 is in the control room at the boards, engineering a vocal session for Mwalim, as he adds backing vocals to 'DoYou Mind IfWeDanceWitYoDate?', a remix of the band's 2016 Indie Blues hit single.

The fundamental goal of any true Hip-Hop artist is to rock the mic. This is exactly what hip-hop jazz producer and MC, The ZYG 808 intended when he released BoOMBAPJAZz as his calling card. The result has been a flurry of opportunities and challenges. (Listen to it HERE on Apple Music)

The album 'BoOMBAPJAZz' by Grammy-nominated, New England-based, Hip-Hop Jazz artist and producer, The ZYG 808 is causing quite the buzz in rap, nu-jazz, and alternative/ jam band markets as sales and streams continue to rise. With three of the seven cuts on the album being instrumental works featuring the young artist's prowess on lead vibraphones, it is clearly not the average hip-hop record by the average hip-hop artist.

Saturday, November 23, 2019, at 3pm, Zion Union Heritage Museum will host a special performance of the piece 'BRONX JAZZ' by father and son duo, Mwalim and ZYG 808, followed by a special book and album signing of their respective upcoming releases. This event is free and open to the public.

The LOUNGE is a bi-monthly program by the Cape Cod NAACP Youth Committee, Oversoul Theatre Collective, and the Zion Union Heritage Museum, presenting jazz, soul, and spoken-word -with an open mic for community people- on the second Saturday of October, December, February, April and June at the Zion Union Heritage Museum on North St in Hyannis.
