Last night The Stella Adler Studio of Acting held its Seventh Annual Stella by Starlight Benefit Gala at The Players Club in New York City. This year’s honorees included Harry Belafonte, James Earl Jones, Daryl Roth, Ed Schultz and Masa Tanaka. Notable attendees included co-chair of the evening, Kate Mulgrew, and Broadway director George C. Wolfe who presented producer Daryl Roth with her award. Check out photos from the event below! Company XIV, in association with Morningside Opera and SIREN Baroque, presents the World Premiere of Judge Me Paris, a Baroque Burlesque Opera, directed and choreographed by Austin McCormick. Judge Me Paris includes excerpts from John Eccles and John Weldon’s Baroque opera The Judgment of Paris, sung by Morningside Opera, with a libretto by William Congreve, Baroque music performed by SIREN Baroque, and additional text by Jeff Takacs. The Theatre Museum Awards for Excellence were held Monday night, April 30, at The Players Club. Helen Guditis, President of The Theatre Museum, five time Tony winner Stewart F. Lane, Chairman of the Board of The Theatre Museum and 2011 Honoree for Distinguished Service to the Theatre, Bonnie Comley hosted a celebration to honor excellence in the theatre. Jeremy Britt, a 23-year-old banker from Rockford, Michigan, became "The Biggest Loser" at tonight's live season finale of the NBC series, winning $250,000. Jeremy began season 13 weighing 389 lbs. and lost 199 lbs. He weighed in at finale at 190 lbs. and lost 51.16% of his body weight. (more...)
