Algonquin Theater Productions Announces Staff Changes

Algonquin Theater Productions, producers of the Off Broadway shows Sessions, The Devil and Billy Markham and An Evening at the Carlyle announces a change in staff. Beginning immediately, Merry Beamer and Debra Whitfield join the current Artistic Director, Tony Sportiello, to form a triumvirate, as the company heads into its eighth year. (more...)

Ruskin Group Theatre Opens Rex Pickett's SIDEWAYS THE PLAY World Premiere, 5/18

Sideways The Play, adapted by Rex Pickett from his own novel, will play in its world premiere by the Ruskin Group Theatre in Los Angeles, May 18 through July 22, Fridays-Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm. It is the story of two friends - Miles and Jack – and their journey across the Santa Ynez wine country, on one last blowout trip before Jack gets married. Miles and Jack must face their uncertain futures…just as soon as they figure out how to survive their chaotic present. (more...)

Mortar Theatre Company to Present BOMBS, BABES AND BINGO, 5/20-6/17

Mortar Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Bombs, Babes and Bingo by Merri Biechler. The experimental production, directed by Rachel Edwards Harvith, is performed at the mainstage of the newly renamed Luna Central, formerly Live Bait Theatre, 3914 North Clark Street, May 20 – June 17. Previews are Sunday, May 20 at 3 p.m. and Wednesday, May 23 at 7:30 p.m. Opening/Press night is Thursday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. The performance schedule is Thursdays - Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. Tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 1. Ticket prices are $15 for previews and $20 for the regular performance run and may be purchased at MortarTheatreCompany.org or at the Luna Central box office at 773.819.5862. (more...)

Pop Theatre has announced a new series of audition and performance workshops. Its inaugural six-week workshop, running Monday nights April 16-May 21, will cover contemporary pop musical theater technique and repertoire. Actor Leonardo Cimino Has Died

According to The New York Times, actor Leonardo Cimino died on March 3rd at his home in Woodstock, N.Y. He was 94 years old. His wife, Sharon Powers, told the newspaper that his death was caused by chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. (more...)
