ReGroup Theatre's THE SILENT PARTNER Set for The Players Club, 7/15

Clifford Odets' The Silent Partner, was originally written for production by The Group Theatre, but the company sadly closed its doors before the play was ever mounted. It was never published, and other than a 1972 Lee Strasberg helmed workshop at the Actors Studio, the play has been unseen for 75 years causing it to be the source of much speculation. Often referred to as a long-form version of Waiting for Lefty as it deals with striking workers, it is an entirely original and savagely poetic 3-Act tale that only Odets could tell. (more...)

Photo Coverage: Inside the 2013 CHOREOGRAPHER'S CANVAS

The Group Theatre Too (GTT) recently presented its sixth annual Choreographer's Canvas, a one-night event featuring the works of over fifteen established and emerging choreographers from around the country. The Canvas, headed by GTT Executive Producer Justin Boccitto, played at the Manhattan Movement and Arts Center on Saturday May 18th and showcased many styles of dance including tap, ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, theatre dance, aerial and this year swing dance. For the past 6 years the Canvas has presented over 65 choreographers, giving opportunity to over 450 dancers performing to sold houses. Check out photos from the event below! (more...)

2013 Broadway Performance Project Set for the Laurie Beechman, 6/11 & 13

The Group Theatre Too, along with choreographer, Justin Boccitto and director, Kimberly Vaughn presents the 2013 Broadway Performance Project (BPP), an evening of young, aspiring Broadway bound talent performing on Tuesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 13th, 7:00pm at cabaret hub, The Laurie Beechman Theater. BPP selected twelve participants from among those who auditioned, including: Caitlin Catanella, Melissa Coffey, Isaac Dayley, Kristin Feeney, Anelena Frollini, Billy Hannon, Erica Kimble, Amelia Rose Ortman, Kelly Reader, Daniel Schultz, Alan Simon and Micki Weiner. In preparation for their Beechman performances these artists will have coached with Justin and Kimberly, along with musical director Andrea Grody, and workshopped their songs in an 'in studio' performance class with a panel of industry professionals who include talent manager Naomi Kolstein and casting director Dale Brown. The project also had a successful benefit show last December where they unveiled "The Nicole Fosse Scholarship" and saw performances from Richard Kline, Phillip Boykin, Anita Gillette, Kurt Peterson, Wayne Alan Wilcox, Colleen Zenk, Kevin Spirtas, Raissa Katona Bennett and Sheri Sanders. Open Fist Theatre Opens THE GOOD THIEF Tonight

The Open Fist Theatre Company presents THE GOOD THIEF, written by Conor McPherson and directed by Scott Paulin (Foote Notes, St. Nicholas) and starring Michael McGee. Mr. Paulin and Mr. McGee's previous collaboration on the McPherson play St. Nicholas was a critically-acclaimed endeavor at the Stephanie Feury Theatre. THE GOOD THIEF will open tonight, March 24 at 7pm and runs through Monday, April 29 at the Open Fist Theatre, 6209 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. (more...)

Starring as the torn lovers are Leah Wagner and Allie Mulholland, roles originated by brother and sister acting legends Stella & Luther Adler. Both shows are at the Robert Moss Theater at 440 Lafayette Street in Manhattan and are running from March 5th through March 24th. Neither of these plays has been produced in New York City in decades. ReGroup opened SUCCESS STORY by John Howard Lawson, the 4th play ever performed by The Group Theatre at The Robert Moss Theatre, 440 Lafayette St on Wed March 6th. It will now play through the 24th of the month, and runs in rep with Lawson's farce LOUD SPEAKER. This is the first time these plays have been seen in generations.
