Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV Merge to Form Virginia Repertory Theatre

Barksdale Theatre and Theatre IV announce that the two nonprofit theaters will formally merge effective July 1, 2012 under a new name - Virginia Repertory Theatre (Virginia Rep). With a budget exceeding $5 million, four distinct venues, and an annual audience over 550,000, Virginia Rep will become the largest professional theater and one of the largest performing arts organizations in Central Virginia along with the Richmond Ballet, Richmond Symphony, and the Virginia Opera. Barksdale and Theatre IV celebrated the announcement and the unveiling of the new Virginia Rep sign today, May 20, at the November Theatre (formerly the Empire Theatre) at 114 West Broad Street at 4:00 p.m. after the closing of Seussical, thelast mainstage childrens production under the Theatre IV name. Pantochino's BROTHERS GRIMM AND A SHOWGIRL Continues into June

Connecticut's Pantochino Productions Inc will bring its popular musical, " The Brothers Grimm and a Showgirl" to the Seven Angels Theatre in Waterbury for two performances this week, and at New Haven's Audubon Arts On the Edge festival sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater New Haven on Saturday, June 2nd. An abridged version of the show has been added to the company's touring roster and will begin appearing in Connecticut schools on May 30th. ( more...)

Theater Works' first camp is the exciting tale of THE GOATS GRUFF with over 40 speaking roles available. This camp kicks off the summer series with 3 weeks of fun, acting, encouragement and a FULLY-COSTUMED AND STAGED PRODUCTION with your child performing on stage. This play has plenty of roles to keep every actor (boys and girls) engaged and active and will provide a fun filled time for performers and audiences alike. NYMF Announces 10 Additional Musicals

The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) has announced 10 additional musical productions for their ninth annual festival. These musicals will play alongside the ten Next Link productions made public last month, as well as several productions, special events and concerts to be announced in the coming weeks. This year's Festival will begin July 9th and continue through July 29th.
