BBC America Greenlights THE WATCH

On the heels of hit series Killing Eve and the introduction of the first female Doctor on Doctor Who, BBC AMERICA announced today the greenlight of the new original scripted series, The Watch, based on Sir Terry Pratchett's wildly popular “Discworld” novels, which have sold more than 90 million books worldwide. The (8 x 60) series is produced by BBC Studios for BBC AMERICA. The Watch is distributed by BBC Studios.

Tickets Are Scarce for Back-to-Back Neil Gaiman & David Sedaris Benaroya Hall Events

Scattered and single seats are all that remains for the November 18th Neil Gaiman appearance at Benaroya Hall. Historically David Sedaris sells out his Seattle events and it appears as if this year will be no different. At present, very few Sedaris tickets remain available for his November 19th appearance. Both events are presented by Northwest Associated Arts (NWAA), KNKX (88.5 FM) and The Stranger at beautiful Benaroya Hall. Amazon Studios today announced it has signed an overall television deal with visionary and award-winning writer Neil Gaiman. The creator of the highly anticipated Amazon Original series Good Omens and the Hugo Award-winning book American Gods, Gaiman will exclusively work with Amazon Studios on the creation of television series which will premiere globally on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories.

BBC Studios has announced ahead of Mipcom 2018, that Richard Gere (Chicago, Pretty Woman), Billy Howle (Witness for the Prosecution, On Chesil Beach) and showrunner Tom Rob Smith (Child 44, London Spy, The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), will head to Mipcom in Cannes to launch MotherFatherSon at a special event on Monday 15th October.

Amazon Prime Video today announced its lineup for New York Comic Con 2018. The panels feature highly-anticipated new Prime Original series Good Omens and The Boys, as well as returning favorites The Man in the High Castle and Lore. Cast and creators participating in the panels include Neil Gaiman, showrunner of Good Omens along with series stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant; The Man in the High Castle executive producer Isa Dick Hackett along with cast members; Gale Anne Hurd, executive producer of Lore; and Eric Kripke showrunner of The Boys. Cast and creators will also participate in press rooms and autograph signings.

Today, Luther Burbank Center for the Arts (LBC) announced that seven new shows have been added to its diverse 2018-19 season. Bluegrass-country singer Alison Krauss, winner of 27 Grammy Awards, will perform Saturday, October 6, 2018; comedian Ron White will return to LBC on Friday, October 26, 2018; after their first successful year of touring, comedy duo #IMOMSOHARD will return to LBC on Wednesday, November 14; Bill Medley of the Righteous Brothers is joined by Bucky Heard to perform the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame duo's most famous songs on Sunday, November 18, 2018; Big Bad Voodoo Daddy bring their holiday show to LBC on Monday, December 3, 2018; Dustbowl Revival and Hot Club of Cowtown will make their way to Santa Rosa as part of Across the Great Divide: A Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of The Band on Wednesday, March 27, 2019; and international best-selling author Neil Gaiman will come to LBC with his show An Evening with Neil Gaiman on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

In 2019, Amazon Prime is unveiling its next big title, Good Omens, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman (American Gods, Coraline) and the late Sir Terry Pratchett (Discworld). Gaiman is the series show runner and it's directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who). The series is slotted to run for six episodes and is being produced by the BBC, to air on its channel after it debuts on Prime. This past weekend for San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC), Amazon Prime released a short featurette with a first look at the series. Check it out!

When the Gainesville Theatre Alliance invented its February Festival of Theatre nine years ago, their aim was to include more modern scripts which traditionally have smaller casts. In order to provide enough opportunities for the emerging theatre artists they train as the Theatre Dept. for both UNG and Brenau University, producing modern scripts meant doing two different shows at once. Northeast Georgia theatre patrons benefit since it also means that there's something for everyone in the audience as well, as seen in this year's two Festival productions: Avenue Q and Monstrous Regiment.
