TCG Announces The Recipients Of Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship

Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theatre, is pleased to announce the recipients of The Willa Kim Costume Design Scholarship 2019. Administered by TCG with support from The Estate of Willa Kim, the Scholarship provides exceptionally talented costume designers who are enrolled in a university or professional training program with the opportunity to supplement their fine arts training in hand-drawing and painting. The Scholarship honors costume designer Willa Kim's legacy and her life's work as a pioneer, legend, and inspiration for many of today's theatre artists.

The awards, totaling $509,000, allow 13 productions extra time for the development and rehearsal of new plays with the entire creative team, hoping to extend the life of the world premiere play after its first run.

Theater J Selected To Participate In New National Initiative

Following a rigorous selection process, Theater J will participate in a significant nation-wide program, the Single Ticket Theater Collective, launched by Theatre Communications Group (TCG), the national organization for theater, and TRG Arts, an industry pioneer and leader in data-driven consulting for arts and cultural professionals. During the five-month initiative, Theater J and nine other theaters from across the country will collaborate on single ticket campaign plans, classroom-style shared learning, and one-on-one consulting with the goal of maximizing single ticket revenue and deepening patron loyalty.

American Conservatory Theater Raises $900,000 At Its Fall Celebration

With the help of celebrated guest artists-including Oscar, Tony, and Emmy Award winner Ellen Burstyn, Tony Award winner BD Wong, and Emmy, Tony, and Golden Globe Award winner Judd Hirsch-American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) raised $900,000 at its Fall Celebration welcoming new Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and new Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein. Proceeds from the event, which took place on Thursday, November 15 at Ken Fulk's brand-new multi-disciplinary arts space Saint Joseph's Arts Society, support A.C.T.'s diverse and far-reaching artistic, artist training, and education and community programs serving 250,000 Bay Area residents each year.

Charles Busch has forged a unique place in the world of entertainment as playwright, actor, director, novelist, cabaret performer, and drag icon. On Tuesday, December 11, the multi-talented artist comes to Palm Beach Dramaworks to kick off the popular series Dramalogue - Talking Theatre! In addition to discussing his illustrious career with Sheryl Flatow, Busch will also perform several songs, accompanied on the piano by Tom Judson. The program will be presented twice, at 2pm and 7pm, at the Don & Ann Brown Theatre.

Wright played the part of Mufasa in the original cast of The Lion King on Broadway.
