Onomatopoeia Theatre Announces 2013 Season; Includes World-Premiere Play DRACULA: BLOODLINES, MACBETH and A DREAM PLAY

The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company (OTC), under the artistic direction of Thomas R. Gordon, will present 3 productions during their 2013 season - the 2nd season for the company. With a season focused on dreams, the Onomatopoeia Theatre Company will present: William Shakespeare's MACBETH (April 25th-May 5th), the world-premiere of Thomas R. Gordon's DRACULA: BLOODLINES (August 22nd-September 8th), and August Strindberg's A DREAM PLAY (November 7th-November 17th). All three productions will be presented at the Gene Frankel Theatre (24 Bond Street). (more...)

Amphibian Presents NY Premiere of SUN SONGS: THREE MICRO-OPERAS Tonight

Amphibian presents the New York premiere of Augusta Read Thomas' Sun Songs: Three Micro-Operas based on texts of Emily Dickinson featuring soprano Cyndie Berthezene and the Temple University Percussion Ensemble with video by John Gurrin. Gurrin's video tapestry for John Cage's String Quartet No. 1 was recently praised by The New Yorker's Alex Ross for its 'deliquescing landscapes.' This concert also features the world premiere of Matthew Greenbaum's surreal, ecstatic Headshot for video animation and electronic sound along with the New York premiere of Andrew Taylor's On Coming Out and a piece by James Tenney. Maya Deren and Alexander Hammid's short film, Meshes of the Afternoon, will be screened. (more...)

Profiles In History Announces New Auction, Featuring Momentos from Authors

Profiles in History, run by Joe Maddalena, has announced that the personal correspondence and manuscripts from the world's greatest authors will be included at their December 18 auction, The Property of a Distinguished American Private Collector. Part I of The Property of a Distinguished American Private Collector will take place in Los Angeles and include 300 of the most important manuscripts of the collection. (more...)

New American Playwrights Project Comes to the Utah Shakespeare Festival This August

The 20th annual New American Playwrights Project (NAPP) takes the stage at the Utah Shakespeare Festival August 9 to August 31. Three plays will be presented as staged readings in the Auditorium Theatre at 10 a.m. on selected dates. Chosen from hundreds of plays submitted, this year's lineup includes The Greater Love by Frankie Little Hardin, Turquoise Wind by Kurt Proctor, and Play Desdemona by Daniel Hintzsche. (more...)
