Hey Stranger Friends, it's your tried and true MADAM SECRETARY recapper and reviewer here, and this week had both McCord's, our Secretary and husband Henry, refusing to suffer fools gladly. Our Secretary had two healthy servings of issues on her plate this week, and once again the writers do not shy away from taking stories out of our recent, real-life headlines. One of my favorite and versatile character actors, Robert Kline, guest stars as Canadian Ambassador Clark, who is pressuring the Secretary to release a report that supports a controversial oil pipeline from Canada to the U.S., and negotiations to get inspectors back into Iran's nuclear program, are souring badly. Henry is the subject his son's most recent school assignment, and a casual lunch to discuss dad's past takes an interesting turn

Barbara Hall, the creator of one of my favorite television shows, JOAN OF ARCADIA, has created and is Executive Producing with none other than Mr. Morgan Freeman, MADAM SECRETARY, a new CBS drama premiering this Sunday, September 21st, at 8pm. I am excited to be recapping and reviewing, along with live tweeting, each episode of this series for BroadwayWorld.com. CBS is showing extreme confidence in this show, and giving it a huge leg up in attracting their core audience, by giving it a prime time slot between two of their most watched shows, 60 MINUTES, and THE GOOD WIFE, on Sunday nights.

Performer Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys - The Movie, Madam Secretary) will perform a live, interactive, one hour online concert through ConcertWindow.com on Sunday, August 17th at 3pm EST. Accompanying Erich will be Michael Orland, who has served as the associate musical director of Fox's American Idol for the past 12 years. During the performance, Erich will perform songs from his latest album, “Never Give Up”, as well as songs from Jersey Boys. Additionally, fans will be able request songs during the completely unrehearsed, improvised show.

Chris Isaacson Presents has announced a one-night-only concert event at the John Anson Ford Amphitheatre on Saturday, August 16 at 8pm. Broadway Under the Stars will star Tony Award-winner Jennifer Holliday (Dreamgirls) and will also feature (in alphabetical order) Obba Babatunde (Dreamgirls), Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys, stage and film), Rogelio Douglas, Jr. (In the Heights), Danny Gurwin (Little Women) and Tony Award-nominee Chad Kimball (Memphis). David Galligan will direct, and the music director is Gerald Sternbach.

The Tribeca Film Institute (TFI) announced the winners of the 10th Annual Tribeca All Access (TAA) Creative Promise Awards presented by the Time Warner Foundation at a ceremony earlier tonight. The narrativeThe Lobbyists and the documentary (T)ERROR were selected from 11 projects based on the strength of their vision and filmmaking promise. Each project received $10,000 to help bring their films to completion. The Institute also announced this year's TAA alumni grants and fellowships during the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival. The grants, all presented at tonight's event, total over $90,000 in funds.
