'St. Louis' Comes to Water Tower: It's a Perfect Match!

You couldn't throw at rock at the Wednesday night opening performance of 'Meet Me In St. Louis' at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place without striking the cream of Chicago's hometown musical theater talent. And THAT was if you threw a rock at the audience!

MAME tells the hilarious story of an eccentric socialite who finds her chaotic Manhattan lifestyle turned upside down when she is appointed guardian of her orphaned nephew. Auntie Mame takes him on one whirlwind adventure after another, proving that 'life is a banquet.' The irresistible score by Jerry Herman includes the title song 'Mame', 'If He Walked Into My Life' and 'We Need A Little Christmas.'

Based on the 1955 best-selling novel by Patrick Dennis and the 1956 hit Broadway play Auntie Mame, MAME will preview October 9, open October 16 and run through December 21 at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace, 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, IL. Two of the most recognized women in Chicago theater will star in this production of the Tony Award winning musical. Jeff Award winner Barbara Robertson, who recently starred as 'Madame Morrible' in the Chicago production of WICKED, will portray 'Mame' through November 16. November 19 through the end of the run will feature one of Chicago's most beloved actors Kat Taylor in the role. Taylor has starred in the National Tours of LES MISERABLES as 'Fantine' and PHANTOM OF THE OPERA. Artistic Director William Osetek will direct.

The most successful rock 'n' roll musical of all time, playing to over 20 million delirious fans, Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, is now offering a special family four pack for families with at least one child under the age of 16. The four pack of tickets costs $100 and must be purchased at least 48 hours in advance of the showtime. The tickets are subject to availability and not available on previous purchased tickets. Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story is currently running at Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place, 175 E. Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place will pair up with the Best Buddies of Illinois organization to celebrate the anniversary of the birthday of popular singer and songwriter Buddy Holly on September 10th, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. Following the performance of Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, Best Buddies Illinois will join the cast for a meet and greet and to help Justin Berkobien, who stars as 'Buddy' blow out the candles on his birthday cake.
