Bassekou Kouyate, descended from a long line of griots (storytellers/historians), is Mali's legendary master of the ngoni, an ancient West African lute that is an ancestor of the banjo. Renowned for his innovations, he takes the ngoni into the 21st century and is credited with creating the first ensemble featuring ngonis of different sizes to provide the different 'voices' needed for the music.

Produced by Ted Hutt (Old Crow Medicine Show, Dropkick Murphys) and recorded at Los Angeles’ Kingsize Soundlabs, Traveling Wildfire is Flemons’ most personal album to-date as he refocuses on songwriting—reflecting on recent epiphanies and spiritual evolution as well as the current social climate.

Road Less Traveled Productions (RLTP) opens its second show of the 2022-2023 season with Guards at the Taj by Rajiv Joseph.  Winner of the 2016 Obie Award for Best New Play and 2016 Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Play, Guards at the Taj will open Thursday November 10 starring Darryl Semira* and Afrim Gjonbalaj* under the direction of RLTP Ensemble Member Katie Mallinson.  

What kinds of sacrifices can be demanded in the pursuit of beauty and perfection?  Do friendship, health, even life, rank as acceptable losses?  This question is at the center of Rajiv Joseph's funny and deeply moving Guards at the Taj, winner of both Obie and Lucille Lortel Awards in 2015, which begins Stage West's 44th season with a 5-week regional premiere run Thursday, October 20.

Recorded direct from the band’s soundboard and restored and remastered, this recording captures the arc of the ABB’s sound as they were ramping up to the classic At Fillmore East album recorded just 8 weeks later (March 1971). You can hear Duane Allman, Gregg Allman, Dickey Betts, Berry Oakley, Butch Trucks and Jaimoe on this recording.
