Rhinebeck Writers Retreat has revealed the residencies for 24 writers to develop nine new musicals. Learn more about the artists!

For its 14th summer, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is hosting 24 award-winning musical theatre writers of nine new musicals for nine consecutive weeklong residencies between June 23 and August 25. Each writing team will live in a private home in the Hudson Valley for one week to focus solely on writing their musical.

The Dramatists Guild previously announced that playwright Christopher Durang will receive a Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s ceremony. He will be joined by two additional recipients, George C. Wolfe and Emily Mann.

MCC will hold a developmental workshop for a musical adaptation of Peter Hedges' 1991 novel What's Eating Gilbert Grape.

Karen Mason and more will lead a concert of select songs from More Than All the Sky by Lori Ada Jaroslow and Morgan Hollingsworth. The concert is set for March 11.

TheaterWorks Hartford has revealed details for its all-female musical Lizzie by Steven Cheslik-deMeyer, Tim Maner, and Alan Stevens Hewitt. Directed by Lainie Sakakura and with music direction by Erika R. Hope Runs High has acquired theatrical rights to writer/director Taylor A. Purdee’s debut narrative film, folk-rock musical Killian & the Comeback Kids. The film is currently slated for a theatrical launch in late August adding new states and territories on an extended rolling basis as regions re-open.
