Today, Hartford Stage announced plans to reopen the theatre to in-person performances for the 2021/2022 Season beginning in October 2021. The theater will produce a 5-play Mainstage season plus a holiday performance. All performances will be held at Hartford Stage on 50 Church Street in Hartford.

Atlanta’s nationally acclaimed Alliance Theatre has announced the productions of the Alliance’s 53rd season. 

After conducting a thorough national search, the Alliance Theatre is pleased to announce that Lawrence Bennett has been chosen as the new Director of Production for the Alliance Theatre, beginning July 19, 2021.  Bennett brings to his new role 15 years of production management and technical direction experience in a variety of company leadership positions. 

DATA, the winner of this year’s Alliance/Kendeda National Graduate Playwriting Competition is available to stream on demand or to experience as a live virtual event through the Alliance Theatre Anywhere Series at Alliance Theatre this month.

The 17th competition winner, DATA is a fast-paced thriller that looks behind the closed doors of Silicon Valley. DATA is written by Matthew Libby and the virtual production is directed by Susan V. Booth.

Northern Stage has announced the 2021 recipients of the BOLD Theater Women's Leadership Circle grant, which marks its fourth year with two new inductees into its unprecedented $3.5 million grant funded by the Helen Gurley Brown Foundation to support and promote women+ artistic directors and their associates in professional theaters across the United States.

The Alliance Theatre has announced the Kathy Bernhardt Volunteer of the Year Award to recognize individuals who give of their time and resources as volunteers at the theater.  Volunteers serve as ushers, serve meals for cast and crew members, fundraise, act as ambassadors, and serve on various boards, advisory boards, and more.  The new award will annually recognize someone who exemplifies the selfless, community-oriented volunteerism of its namesake volunteer, Kathy Bernhardt.    

The Alliance Theatre today announced updates to its 2020/21 season, including a new “Under The Tent” series to provide more socially-distanced performance options.  The “Under the Tent” series will include a concert staging of the Broadway hit WORKING: A MUSICAL, as well as concert-style performances of BEAUTIFUL BLACKBIRD LIVE and more.

The Alliance Theatre has announced that Jocelyn Hunter has been chosen as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.  She is the current Vice Chair of the Board of Directors, is a member of the Governance and Executive Committees, and has served on the Alliance Theatre Board of Directors since 2006.

The Alliance Theatre has announced a free variety show featuring Broadway stars Terry Burrell (Ethel) and Courtenay Collins (The Prom).  Burrell and Collins will alternate as hostess as they entertain audiences from home with songs, stories, special cocktails, and maybe a surprise guest or two.  We're Still Here: A Virtual Cabaret will be streamed live on the Alliance's Facebook page and YouTube channel each Thursday at 7:00 p.m., July 9 a?" After 25 years as the Artistic Director of downtown Atlanta's Theatrical Outfit (T.O.), Tom Key retires from the position on June 30, 2020. The City of Atlanta and Fulton County are honoring the veteran actor, director and arts leader with proclamations and Theatrical Outfit is naming its new Apprenticeship Program in his honor.

As part of its 2020/21 season the Alliance will produce HANDS UP in association with Spelman College. Across seven monologues written by seven Black playwrights, HANDS UP depicts the realities of Black America from the perspective of varying genders, sexual orientations, skin tones, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
