The 68th annual THEATRE WORLD AWARDS, which will take place on Tuesday, June 5th at 2 pm at The Belasco Theatre, 111 West 44th Street, NYC., will include special performances by Broadway favorites Brian Stokes Mitchell, Michael Cerveris, Howard McGillin and Stephanie Umoh. The by-invitation-only ceremony will present Theatre World Awards to 12 actors for their Outstanding Broadway or Off-Broadway Debut Performances during the 2011-2012 theatrical season. The event also includes presentation of the 4th Annual Dorothy Loudon Award for Excellence. This year The Theatre World Awards will have ASL interpretation.

The 57th Annual Obie Awards were given out at a ceremony tonight at Webster Hall in Greenwich Village. The awards were presented by acclaimed stage actors Eric McCormack, Grace Gummer, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Pryce, Justin Bartha, Leslie Odom Jr., Lily Rabe, Michael McKean, Tonya Pinkins, Topher Grace, and Tracee Chimo.

The 2012 Drama Critics Circle aAards were presented at a cocktail reception last night, May 14, at Angus McIndoe Restaurant. Sons of the Prophet, written by Stephen Karam, won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award (NYDCC) for Best Play of the 2011-2012 season. Producers Scott Morfee, Jean Doumanian and Tom Wirtshafter today announced the complete cast for the North American premiere of Nina Raine's new play Tribes, directed by multiple Lortel and Obie Award-winner David Cromer. The cast will feature Will Brill (Our Town), Russell Harvard (There Will Be Blood), Steppenwolf Theatre co-founder Jeff Perry (August: Osage County), Susan Pourfar (When the Rain Stops Falling), Gayle Rankin (The Illusion at Signature Theatre), and Academy Award® nominee and Emmy Award®-winner Mare Winningham (Georgia). (This production marks a reunion for Mr. Perry, who hasn't appeared Off Broadway in nearly thirty years, and Ms. Winningham. They played husband and wife on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy," and will also play husband and wife in Tribes.)

Early on in Lisa Kron's politically-charged romantic comedy/drama, In The Wake, audiences are reminded of a scene that traditionally takes place in many American households every fourth Thursday of November.  While the rest of the family is ready to sit down to Thanksgiving dinner, there's one person pleading to keep the television on for just a little longer, obsessed with the score and loudly complaining about the officiating.  Only this time it's Thanksgiving Day, 2000 and Kron's central character, Ellen (Marin Ireland), isn't concerned with a football game, but is jumping up and down in front of the MSNBC broadcast, wildly cheering for a come-from-behind Al Gore victory in the contested presidential election.
