The National Theatre Announces New Management

The Trustees of the National Theatre Corporation (NTC), in Washington, D.C., are announcing that they have entered into an arrangement with Chicago-based JAM Theatricals, Ltd. and Philadelphia area-based SMG that will expand the presentations at the historic National Theatre to include an annual Broadway series, concerts, leading classical artists and other attractions. JAM and SMG are combining to provide booking, advertising, marketing and promotional services, venue management and operational support for the Theatre.

The Weinstein Company (TWC) announced today that George Clooney, Academy AwardŽ-winning actor (SYRIANA) and Academy Award-nominated filmmaker (GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK., THE IDES OF MARCH), and Academy AwardŽ-nominated producer/screenwriter Grant Heslov (GOOD NIGHT AND GOOD LUCK., THE IDES OF MARCH) have signed on as producers of AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, the upcoming screen adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning play by Tracy Letts. Academy Award winners Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts star as mother and daughter in the film, directed by John Wells from Letts' screen adaptation. THE LION KING North American Tour Celebrates Record-Breaking Engagement in Richmond

With four performances still remaining, the Richmond four-week premiere engagement of Disney's THE LION KING has already broken the Landmark Theater box office record for a Broadway engagement. By the time the wildly successful run concludes on Sunday, March 11, it will have entertained more than 93,000 people and grossed over $5.5 million. The group sales record was also topped with over 250 different organizations and parties of 20 or more in attendance throughout the 32 performances at the Landmark.

BroadwayWorld.com has just confirmed that the Broadway production of David Mamet's A Life in the Theatre, starring Patrick Stewart and T.R. Knight will close on November 28, 2010.
