The opening program of the 2012 Bach Festival Society Choral Masterworks series presents music by six contemporary composers and celebrates the themes of peace and light in two performances by the renowned Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra. The works on the program were selected to highlight some of the most accomplished choral and orchestra composers working today.

Cleveland Orchestra Performs World Premiere of Paulus's Violin Concerto No. 3, 10/11-14

Giancarlo Guerrero, music director of the Nashville Symphony and principal guest conductor of Cleveland Orchestra Miami, conducts The Cleveland Orchestra in concerts at Severance Hall that open with Igor Stravinsky's Petrouchka (complete ballet music, 1947 revision). After intermission, Cleveland Orchestra Concertmaster William Preucil is soloist in the world premiere performances of Stephen Paulus's Violin Concerto No. 3. The concerto was commissioned by The Cleveland Orchestra with the generous support of Linda and Jack Hoeschler and Peter and Mary Dahlen. The program concludes with Maurice Ravel's Rhapsodie espagnole.

New York Choral Society Kicks Off 52nd Annual Summer Sing Program, Now thru 8/29

This summer marks the 52nd annual Summer Sing Program. Each summer, the New York Choral Society produces a Summer Sings series that features the most popular masterworks of the choral literature. Taking place every Wednesday at 7:30pm from tonight, July 25th - August 29th at Symphony Space in the Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater, 2537 Broadway at 95th Street, New York, six prominent choral conductors from the New York area will lead audience members to sing through these popular works. Scores are provided by the New York Choral Society.

Nashville Symphony Awarded Three Grants

Nashville Symphony has been awarded grants from the Metro Nashville Arts Commission, the Tennessee Arts Commission and the National Endowment for the Arts. These funds will be used to sustain its commitment to enriching the community through music and arts education and to commissioning and recording new American repertoire.

Subscriptions are now on sale for the Columbus Symphony's 2012-13 Masterworks and Pops seasons. Masterworks will continue to present eight concerts at the Ohio Theatre and four concerts at the Southern Theatre. All Pops concerts will remain at the Ohio Theatre.
