The Ivoryton Playhouse will be holding local auditions for Equity and non Equity actors for the 2023 season. Auditions will be held at the Ivoryton Playhouse on Friday, January 20th from 11am – 7pm, and on Saturday, January 21 from 10 – 6pm.

The production of The Color Purple, now onstage at the Roxy, is without doubt the most emphatically, beautifully and electrifyingly sung musical I’ve seen at the historic theatre on the corner of First and Franklin in downtown Clarksville over the past three decades. This Muny production of THE COLOR PURPLE is too beautiful for words. It is a stunning love letter to Alice Walker and her epistolary novel of redemption. Director Lili-Anne Browne’s vison brings to the stage a concert-like version of this production similar to the 2016 Tony Award Winning Broadway revival. Her leadership, coupled with Breon Arzell's spirited choreography, help this epic 40-year story come to life with theatrical sophistication. Music Director Jermaine Hill’s perfectly balanced orchestrations were almost unnoticeable while supporting the beautiful score sung by this incomparable company of actors.

The complete cast and creative team have been announced for the first Broadway revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Joining the cast are Nadia Daniel and Jurnee Elizabeth Swan. Rounding out the company are Shirine Babb, Charles Browning, Peter Jay Fernandez, Sharina Martin, Warner Miller, Doron JePaul Mitchell and Kim Sullivan.

DADDY’S EYES is produced by Drew Ann and John K. Anderson, and written by Anderson; additional talent includes director of photography Byron Werner, editor Steven Nevius, production designer Kelsey Wright, and costume designer Danielle “Dani” Brown. Music was scored by John Ballinger, with additional music production by Mike Farrell.

The inspiring musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel THE COLOR PURPLE will make a joyful noise at the Roxy Regional Theatre, beginning Friday, August 5, at 8:00pm.

“We have been fortunate right away that there felt like a sisterly energy between the two of us,” says Tavia Rivée, who plays Nettie in Maine State Music Theatre’s new production of THE COLOR PURPLE. Rivée is talking about her co-star, Jaden Dominique, who plays the show’s protagonist, Celie. Dominique seconds these sentiments, saying she has felt that connection from the very beginning and being able to share housing with her colleague during the rehearsal period “has strengthened that bond.”

The Color Purple musical movie is currently currently being filmed in Georgia and this week, young star, Halle Bailey, wrapped her portion of filming, celebrating with a sweet gift from producer, Oprah Winfrey. Watch the video!
