'Submissions Only,' the popular webseries, has announced today the return of the show for its third season. After a very successful and record breaking Season 2 on BroadwayWorld.com, in which episode traffic was double to triple its previous YouTube incarnation, it was announced today that Tony Award-Winning Broadway producer Kevin McCollum has attached himself to the project. The choices I have made are based solely on the plays and performances that I actually saw. I cannot see all the great talent that is out there in LA; it is physically impossible, as there exist far too many theatre/cabaret performances for one person to cover. So if a choice of yours is not on my list, chances are, I did not see that play or performance...or, it just did not make the final cut. I also do not separate Equity from Equity waiver; I consider all the productions/performances I select to be of top-of-the-line quality/professionalism. (more...)

The Musical will celebrate its 400th performance at the 3 PM matinee this Sunday, November 18th at the new Elektra Theatre in the heart of Times Square, 669 Eighth Avenue (at 42nd St.) Winner of the 2012 Off Broadway Alliance Award for Best Musical, SILENCE! The Musical is the unauthorized parody of The Silence of the Lambs, with book by Hunter Bell, music & lyrics by Jon and Al Kaplan, and direction & choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Gattelli. After opening at Theatre 80 on July 9, 2011 to unanimous rave reviews, the show immediately became a sold-out phenomenon and was selected by Time Magazine as one of the year's Top 5 Musicals. One is accustomed to the overwhelming cult following of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, where fans at midnight screenings dress in character and talk back to the screen. But who would have thought that an Academy Award-winning film like The Silence of the Lambs, whose overall tone is intensely serious and realistically creepy, would hold up equally well in the form of a spoof? And to which audiences would respond in howl-a-minute frankness and style? Well, it has surely happened with the award-winning Silence! The Musical, now in its Los Angeles debut at the Hayworth Theatre. But a few words of warning: really know the movie The Silence of the Lambs inside out, and if you haven't seen it in a while, rent it and watch it right before the stage show! (more...)
