GSN Launches Online Bible Study to Mark BIBLE CHALLENGE Season 2 Premiere

GSN announces the launch of 'The American Bible Challenge Bible Study' -- a 10-week Bible Study hosted by author and television producer Phil Cooke. THE AMERICAN BIBLE CHALLENGE, a studio-based game show hosted by author and comedian Jeff Foxworthy in which contestants compete based on their knowledge of the Bible, returns for a 2nd season on Thursday, March 21st at 9:00pm ET/PT on GSN. Depp, DeGeneres, & More Join Presenter Line-Up for THE GRAMMYS

Current nominees Dr. John and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band have been added to join a performance by the Black Keys, in addition to three-time GRAMMY Award winner Stanley Clarke, current nominee Chick Corea and current nominee Kenny Garrett paying tribute to Dave Brubeck, a performance by current nominee Juanes and a joint performance by Travis Barker, Chuck D, two-time GRAMMY Award winner and host LL COOL J, two-time GRAMMY Award winner Tom Morello and DJ Z-Trip, all on THE 55TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS broadcast. The music industry's premier event will take place Sunday, Feb. 10 (8:00-11:30 PM, live ET/delayed PT), at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, on the CBS Television Network. (more...)

Amel Larrieux Plays Blue Note, 11/26-28

An urban chanteuse by birth, Amel Larrieux grew up in a West Village 'artists building' in New York City, her parents exposing her early to a community of artists and artistic experiences that would mold her eclectic sensibilities. At the age of 18, sure that she wanted to express herself musically, Amel wrote and demoed a song, which led to her pairing with Bryce Wilson to form the duo Groove Theory. As lead vocalist and co¬?writer for the group, she enjoyed success with 'Tell Me,' which broke the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and the top five on the R&B charts before being certified gold in October 1995. Blue Note Reopens with Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke After Longest Closure in Club's History, Now thru 11/7

The Blue Note Jazz Club reopened last night, November 3rd after the longest closure in its illustrious 31-year history. Prior to hurricane Sandy, the club had only been closed four days in its existence (all due to external circumstances): two days for 9/11, one day in 2011 for Hurriance Irene, and one day for a blizzard during a Nancy Wilson show (year unconfirmed). The club reopens with a five day run with Chick Corea and Stanley Clarke's newest band featuring Ravi Coltrane (sax), Marcus Gilmore (drums) and Charles Altura (guitar). (more...)

Trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti has enjoyed a prolific career as performer and educator in both the jazz and classicAl Fields since his early days with Woody Herman's big band and his notable four-year tenure with Chick Corea. The release of Vizzutti's superb new CD 'Ritzville,' today October 16, is an especially welcome event because the in-demand trumpeter/composer has recorded all too infrequently as a leader.
