The New Victory Theater Presents THE GIRL WHO FORGOT TO SING BADLY, 5/31-6/9

In this inventive one-man production, Louis Lovett spins a fantastical yarn about a young heroine who journeys over snowy lands and high seas to save the day and rescue an entire city. Commissioned by The Ark, written by accomplished Australian playwright Finegan Kruckemeyer (The Tragical Life of Cheeseboy, New Vic 2011) and helmed by celebrated director Lynne Parker, Theatre Lovett's The Girl who Forgot to Sing Badly is Irish storytelling with a modern twist. The Girl who Forgot to Sing Badly is presented by The New Victory Theater and will make its NY premiere at The Duke on 42nd Street from May 31 through June 9, 2013. (more...)

Former rocker Stewart Copeland delves into the twisted psyche of Edgar Allan Poe's manic murderer in the US premiere of Tell-Tale Heart and Bang on a Can composer, Michael Gordon, observes the anguished spirit of a brilliant artist in the West Coast stage premiere of Van Gogh. Featuring music at the edge of rock, jazz and classical modernism, this double bill of delusion and illusion, paranoia and inspiration begins May 11 and continues on May 18 and 19, 2013 at theEXPO Art Center, 4321 Atlantic Avenue, Long Beach, CA. RSC Celebrates New Leadership, JULIUS CAESAR and MATILDA in NY This Spring

With a new leadership team of Gregory Doran, Artistic Director, and Catherine Mallyon, Executive Director, at the helm, the Royal Shakespeare Company returns to New York this spring with two productions, Julius Caesar and Matilda The Musical. Both began their lives at the RSC's Stratford-upon-Avon home and reflect the Company's continuing commitment to Shakespeare and the work of contemporary playwrights and theatre artists, as it celebrates one hundred years of touring work from Shakespeare's birthplace to the US.
