The Joyce Theater Announces 2013-2014 Fall/Winter Season by BWW News Desk - May 02, 2013
The Joyce Theater (Linda Shelton, Executive Director), the United States' foremost dance venue, announced today programming for its 2013-2014 Fall & Winter Season featuring extraordinary companies, both international and local - several making their Joyce debuts - and loaded with highly anticipated premieres, including The Royal Ballet's production of Kafka's The Metamorphosis, choreographed by Arthur Pita especially for Royal Ballet Principal Edward Watson. Noche Flamenca, Abigail Washburn, Bridget Everett and More Set for Joe's Pub's 2013 New York Voices Series by BWW News Desk - Nov 15, 2012
Joe's Pub at The Public announces the second season of its New York Voices series, presenting new works from critically-acclaimed performers commissioned by Joe's Pub and supported in part by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The 2013 season will include the celebrated Spanish flamenco dance company Noche Flamenca; the singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn who fuses traditional forms of Appalachian and Chinese folk music; and carnal chanteuse and fearless cabaret star Bridget Everett. Northrop Dance and The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University present Women of Substance. Inspired by Rosa, Soledad's mother, the term "Quebradas" literally translates into "women turning oneself inside out." It is also a flamenco dance term that refers to a dance move that only women perform, which requires a woman to perform with her chest off its axis. (more...)

Flamenco Artists Play The Joyce Theater, 9/20-25 & 9/27-10/2 by BWW News Desk - Aug 08, 2011
To kick off its 2011-2012 fall/winter season, The Joyce Theater is thrilled to present two one-week engagements by two of the world's leading flamenco artists from Spain, Israel Galván and Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenco. Israel Galván will open the season with a solo performance from September 20-25. From September 27 - October 2, Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenco, the company founded by Barrio in 1993 with her husband Artistic Director Martin Santangelo, will delight audiences with several pieces, including a New York premiere.
