the cell, A Twenty First Century Salon, Founding Artistic Director Nancy Manocherian, and Artistic Director Kira Simring, have announced the extension of the world premiere production of PETER/WENDY adapted and directed by Jeremy Bloom from J.M. Barrie's 'Peter Pan and Wendy' and 'The Little White Bird' and scored by the indie band, The Books. PETER/WENDY has been playing a limited engagement at the cell (338 W. 23rd St NYC). Philadelphia Young Playwrights has kicked off its 25th anniversary celebration by announcing the launch of the Paula Vogel Mentors Project, a living award honoring the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and teacher and extending her mentorship legacy. The three-year pilot program will bring together five acclaimed professional playwrights as mentors for five promising young playwright fellows, who will embark on yearlong playwriting journeys. 'Alligator Summer' by Dylan Lamb is an audacious farce in which two southern families have taken refuge in an attic, Anne Frank style, after an endless army of alligators have overrun their town. Subtitled 'A Southern Gothic Atrocity in Three Acts,' it is an absurd play that seriously confronts how we face our primal fears, address reality and communicate truthfully. Two-time Tony Award-winner Katie Finneran (most recently on Broadway in "Annie") and husband Darren Goldstein ("Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson") are set to host the 15th Anniversary Benefit for the Off-Broadway theatre company Page 73 Productions onWednesday, May 22nd 2013 at City Winery (155 Varick Street) in Manhattan. The evening's festivities begin at 7:00pm and will include dinner, cocktails (including specialty cocktail "The Caroline McGraw" in honor of the 2013 P73 Playwriting Fellow) and the annual New Play Bake Off. Longtime Page 73 supporters Carson and Joseph Gleberman will be honored at this year's benefit. (more...)

The world premiere of Fix Number Six, a comedy by Jerry Polner, will be presented beginning May 29, opening day of the 5th annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity, New York's premier eco-friendly theatre festival. Directed by Michael Criscuolo and featuring actors, Fix Number Six tells of Jane, a travel agent whose career is going nowhere. Hounded by an idiot boss, she dreams of pursuing her true calling as an international spy. When her rich, lovesick customer wants to hire Jane to "fix" his life with whatever tawdry subterfuge is necessary, she jumps at the chance. (more...)
