Bristol Old Vic and Handspring Puppet Co's A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM to Make American Premiere at Spoleto Festival USA, 5/25 by BWW News Desk - Mar 26, 2013
Co-commissioned by Spoleto Festival USA, Bristol Old Vic's new production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream will have its American premiere performance on Saturday, May 25 at 8pm at the Dock Street Theatre in Charleston, South Carolina. The production, which is directed by Tom Morris in association with South Africa's Handspring Puppet Company is the first collaboration between the two companies since their award-winning production of War Horse. Midsummer will run for 19 performances throughout the 17-day Festival and a full list of performances during the 2013 Spoleto Festival USA is listed below. (more...)

Now celebrating its sixth year on the London stage, Nick Stafford's adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's book continues to play to sell-out houses in the West End. War Horse, which has now been seen by over 1.6 million people in London and by over 3 million people worldwide, received its world premiere at the National Theatre in October 2007. Gemma Arterton Plays Lead in MADE IN DAGENHAM Workshop; Production Aims for West End 2013-14? by BWW News Desk - Sep 27, 2012
According to the Daily Mail, Gemma Arterton played the lead role of 'Rita' in a workshop production of the musical adaptation of the film Made In Dagenham. There is not yet a London theater or deal drawn up for a full production, but the Mail reports that Arterton has expressed her 'keenness to move ahead with the project.' THE PLAYERS FOUNDATION FOR THEATER EDUCATION Executive Director John Martello announced the two-week extension of the The Half: Photographs of Actors Preparing for the State, an exhibition of celebrity photographs of actors in their dressing rooms taken by Simon Annand in the 30 minutes before curtain up, known as the half. The exhibition will now run until June 29th, 2012 at THE PLAYERS (16 Gramercy Park South, New York) and is accompanied by Annand's book The Half. (more...)

The National Theatre presents the third season of National Theatre Live (NT Live), a successful initiative to broadcast live performances from the National's stages to cinemas worldwide. In addition to the previously scheduled broadcasts of The Comedy of Errors (March 1), the season will include Travelling Light (February 9) and She Stoops to Conquer (March 29). Since its first season, which began in June 2009 with the acclaimed production of Phédre starring Helen Mirren, over half a million people have now experienced the National's acclaimed work on movie screens around the world. WAR HORSE to Embark on UK Tour in Fall 2013; Productions Planned for Japan, South Africa, and More! by BWW News Desk - Oct 20, 2011
The National Theatre's award-winning production of War Horse is currently playing the New London Theatre, and will egin a full UK tour in Fall 2013, according to The Stage. While official tour dates and venues have not yet been confirmed, executive director Nick Starr revealed that in addition to the West End, Broaway, and upcoming Toronto production, there are also plans to open in Australia, Japan, and South Africa.
