The York Theatre Company presents the world premiere of the new musical comedy Christmas in Hell with book, music, and lyrics by Gary Apple ('The Simpsons'), with direction and choreography by Bill Castellino (Desperate Measures, York/New World Stages) andmusic direction, music supervision, and arrangements by Logan Medland (National Tours of Cats and Crazy for You). The eight-member cast features Scott Ahearn (Under the Knife: A Farce, Theater for the New City) as Richard, Donna English (Nice Work If You Can Get It, Broadway)as Mrs. Huvey, Lori Hammel (Mamma Mia!, Broadway) as Galiana, Elijah Rayman (Oliver, Goodspeed Opera House) as Davin, Zak Risinger(The Cradle Will Rock, Howl! Arts) as Carl, Brandon Williams (Gettin' the Band Back Together, Broadway) as Lucifer, Dathan B. Williams (Show Boat, Broadway) as Detective Zanderhoff, and Ron Wisniski (Beauty and the Beast, Broadway) as Principal Bolton.

Directed by Max Friedman, with choreography by Andrew Palermo, and music direction/arrangements by Adam Podd, the cast features Sam Bolen, Jeremy Cohen, and Jon J. Peterson. Performances began Tuesday, October 2, 2018 for a limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, November 4, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue). The York Theatre Company in association with Documentary Arts, presents the world premiere of the new musical Lonesome Blues, based on the true story of legendary bluesman Blind Lemon Jefferson, created by Alan Govenar (Texas in Paris) and Akin Babatundé (Blind Lemon Blues), directed by Katherine Owens (How Is It That We Live or Shakey Jake + Alice), performed by Akin Babatundé with David Weiss on guitar. Performances began June 12, 2018 for a three-week limited engagement through Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2018 at The York Theatre Company at Saint Peter's (entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).

Jump For Joy! The Off-Broadway cast recording of the New York premiere production of the new musical Unexpected Joy, with book and lyrics by Bill Russell (Side Show) and music by Janet Hood (Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens with Bill Russell), will be recorded and released by JAY Records. Produced by John Yap, the recording will feature the original cast of The York Theatre Company production who will gather at Sear Sound Studios (353 West 48th Street) on Monday, May 14, 2018 to lay down the tracks for the recording.
