Westchester Broadway Theatre to Present GUYS AND DOLLS, 4/11-6/9

Westchester Broadway Theatre presents Guys and Dolls, featuring Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser and Book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows. WBT's production will be directed and choreographed by Richard Stafford, with musical director Jihwan Kim. The show will run April 11 - June 9, 2013. (more...)

A closed reading was just held for Excalibur, featuring music by Frank Wildhorn, a book by Ivan Menchell, lyrics by Robin Lerner, and orchestrations by Koen Schoots. Directed by Francesca Zambello, the show was commissioned by Werner Signer of Theater St. Gallen, in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Opening night will be in March 2014. (more...)

Guys and Dolls, subtitled 'A Musical Fable of Broadway' is set in the colorful world of New York City in the mid 20th century. It is considered one of the greatest musicals of all time. Guys and Dolls is populated with gangsters and gamblers, missionary dolls and beautiful showgirls, and has one of the greatest musical scores in the history of American theatre. Including Frank Loesser hits; 'Luck Be A Lady', 'Guys and Dolls', 'If I Were A Bell', and 'Sit Down Your Rockin' The Boat'. (more...)

BWW Reviews: TUTS' CAMELOT is Mesmerizingly Regal

Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe may be best known for MY FAIR LADY, their 1956 musical adaptation of Pygmalion. The show was an incredible success and left anticipation high for another Lerner & Loewe musical. After tumultuous writing, casting, and rehearsing processes their follow up opened on Broadway in 1960. The musical, simply titled CAMELOT, was based on T. H. White's The Once and Future King. It opened to mixed reviews, but the Original Cast Album LP was America's best selling LP for a solid 60 weeks. After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, it was publicized that the original cast recording had been a favorite of the Kennedy family in while in the White House, forever tying Lerner & Loewe's CAMELOT to the glamorous, media culture Camelot era of the Kennedy family. Musically Human Theatre Productions (MHTP) will close its inaugural season with the world premiere of Matt Conner and Stephen Gregory Smith's NightoftheLivingDead: The Musical (NOTLD), which will run May 31 to June 17 at the Richmond Shepard Theater. Previews will be May 31 and June 1, prior to a gala opening on June 2. Performances will be Thursdays through Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. The Richmond Shepard Theater is located at 309 East 26th Street. BWW TV: Bway Beat Captures 23 Years of PHANTOM Celebration

The longest-running show in Broadway history, the Cameron Mackintosh/Really Useful Group, Inc. production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by Harold Prince, reached an unprecedented milestone on January 26, 2011, when it celebrated its Twenty-Third Anniversary on Broadway. Playing its 9,566th & 9,567th performances at The Majestic Theatre (247 West 44th Street), it becomes the first Broadway production ever to have run 23 years.
