Fountain Hills Youth Theater Opens ONCE UPON A MATTRESS, 6/7

Fountain Hills Youth Theater is proud to announce the closing production of their 10th anniversary season, the musical romp 'Once Upon a Mattress'. If you thought you knew the story of 'The Princess and The Pea,' you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that Lady Larken's love for Sir Harry provided a rather compelling reason that she reach the bridal altar post haste? Or that, in fact, it wasn't the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. On Tuesday, February 12, BSP reprises its annual favorite A.R. Gurney's Love Letters featuring real-life husband and wife duo Stephanie and Ben Adams as Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III who sit side by side and read the notes, letters and cards they have sent to each other for over 50 years. They share the dreams and desires, hopes and disappointments, victories and defeats that have passed between them throughout their separated lives. Tickets

In celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of Broadway's landmark musical event The Lion King, cast members Alton Fitzgerald White, Chondra La-Tease Profit and Lindiwe Dlamini 'flipped the switch' and lit the world-famous Empire State Building's tower lights with the signature color of the production.
