Pumpkin Theatre continues our 45th Anniversary Season "A Celebration of Imagination" with Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz.

While the musical production-a collaborative effort between the Strand Theater Co. and StillPointe Theatre Initiative-tackles such weighty issues as racism, sexism, feminism and even terrorism, it is by no means a somber performance; to the contrary, it is jubilant, joyous, soulful and energizing, and the enormous (at least for this space), 12-actor cast shakes, shimmies and grooves along to the music of a five-piece live band through Childs' delightful lyrics and hilarious script, reminding us (and perhaps reminding herself) not to take things too seriously.

Directed by Ryan Haase. The production will begin with Previews tonight, February 8-14, will officially open on February 15, and run through February 23.

Directed by Ryan Haase. The production will begin with Previews on February 8-14, will officially open on February 15, and run through February 23. Tickets to Previews are $15, Opening Night - $25, general admission $20, Seniors $15, Students $10.

A NEW PLAY with book and lyrics by Pumpkin Theatre Producing Artistic Director, Jimi Kinstle and music by Ryan Michael Haase (Artistic Director, Stillpointe Theatre Initiative) based on the children's book The Hardest Word, by Jacqueline Jules. Quest of the Ziz Bird has been adapted to the stage by Pumpkin Theatre in collaboration with the Louise D & Morton J Macks Center for Jewish Education (CJE) (www.cjebaltimore.org) and the PJ Library as part of an outreach project for both organizations.

This interactive play, written by Moses Goldberg, is done in the style that first made Pumpkin Theatre so popular.
