Chicago's Northlight Theatre Brings THE OUTGOING TIDE to Galway Arts Festival, July 17-21

Northlight Theatre, under the direction of Artistic Director BJ Jones and Executive Director Timothy J. Evans, announces that the companys acclaimed World Premiere production of The Outgoing Tide, by Bruce Graham and directed by BJ Jones, will be presented in association with Galway Arts Festival in Galway, Ireland, July 17 21, 2012. Cast members John Mahoney, Rondi Reed and Thomas J. Cox, are set to reprise the roles they originated in the Northlight production. ( more...)

DEATH OF A SALESMAN Recoups; Definitely No Extension

After breaking the house record at the Barrymore Theatre six times during its run with a seven-performance-a-week schedule, Arthur Millers DEATH OF A SALESMAN will recoup its $3.1 million capitalization this week. The critically acclaimed limited engagement opened March 15. Despite the show's success, there will no extension. ( more...)

To coincide with the 20th anniversary celebrations for the Halifax-based Northern Broadsides Theatre Company, the renowned Dean Clough Galleries has devoted its premiere exhibition space to a large-scale photography show by the highly acclaimed photographer Nobby Clark. TNT Picks Up Drama Series Starring Bill Irwin, Alfred Molina

TNT has greenlit MONDAY MORNINGS, a powerful new series from award-winning producer David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, Chicago Hope) and practicing neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta, M.D., on whose book the series is based. Rufous Hound to Make Stage Début in UTOPIA Cast this Summer

Artistic Directors Steve Marmion and Max Roberts today announce the full cast for their joint new writing project UTOPIA, which is making its world premiere at Live Theatre on Thursday 31 May, before transferring to Soho Theatre on Wednesday 20 June, with opening night on Thursday 21 June. UTOPIA will star: Tobi Bakare (Greenland National Theatre; Crawling In The Dark Almeida Theatre and Gone Too Far, Royal Court Theatre); Laura Elphinstone (Top Girls, Chichester Festival Theatre/Trafalgar Studios; A Month in the Country, Chichester Festival Theatre and the film adaptation of The History Boys); Rufus Hound making his theatre debut, is most well-known for his regular team captainship on Argumental, Celebrity Juice, 8 Out of 10 Cats and Never Mind The Buzzcocks; Pamela Miles (Darker Shores, Hampstead Theatre; Pygmalion, Theatre Royal Bath/Old Vic London and Lone Star Mark Three, Salisbury Playhouse); also making her stage debut Sophia Myles who is most well-known for her leading roles in film and TV including Tristan and Isolde and Spooks and David Whitaker one of the founders of Live Theatre, Newcastle, his theatre credits include The Pitmen Painters (Live Theatre/National Theatre/Broadway and West End) plus extensive credits for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Donmar Warehouse. Penned by playwright Lee Hall, author of the celebrated Billy Elliot, this critically acclaimed play from London and Broadway will receive its regional premiere in ACTs dynamic in-the-round Allen Theatre directed by ACTs Artistic Director Kurt Beattie this Friday, April 20. The official opening night is April 26, and the show is scheduled to run until May 20.

WE BUILT THIS CITY Interactive Theatre Experince Set for Mothers' Day Weekend, Scottsdale

Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts has invited kids and their families to take part in a free interactive performance of Polyglot Theatres We Built This City on Mothers Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday, May 1213. Two 120-minute performances will take place outdoors in Scottsdale Civic Center Park on each day at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Admission is free and tickets are not required. When a Hollywood film crew begins shooting a movie nearby, the Inishmaan islanders finally have a diversion from their everyday lives.
